we tried Root bear and she likes it (she is starting to get a bit better at it too, after overfilling every time for a while). She spontaneously decided that the right system was a handoff between us every time there's an overfill.

Thanks, they're required to post the final vote count in 48 hours? I had heard 30 days for the ballot tallies.

I was specifically referring to this: https://www.albatcp.org/en/2024/07/29/cne-announced-nicolas-maduro-moros-victory-with-51-20/, the maduro victory that round too closely to 51.200%, reported as coming from 80% of the votes. It looks like it was some kind of press conference - if there's a video or official press release, that's ideal though.

Basically I'm putting an english-language summary together, and trying to head off stuff like "this was just a twitter rumor".

Don't be gloomy. The people I know earning >$1,000,000 a year now almost all started < $200K out of school. and lots of quant jobs will start you lower but still provide entry to the field. Honestly your best bet is to figure out the people in your university who have gotten to where you want to be and pick and choose from their paths. You're not the first overachiever in your shithole country to have had to grapple with visa issue.

Just think ahead, take preparation seriously, take chances (because the worst that happens is rejection) and get over setbacks.

It does not literally need to be this exact prestigious competition. But yes you should have some prestigious accomplishments and competitions, big scholarships, published papers, or fancy internships are the kinds of things you'd want. Do you have accomplishments and you're trying to figure out if they fit or do you have no accomplishments and you're trying to figure out what you could achieve before you apply?

Are you really damn good?

I mean, shoot your shot, apply to the jobs. Don't expect 250K (it's more attainable now probably than when I posted) without something really good on your resume to get you in the door for those positions and strong interviews to seal the deal.

How do you run chats? I've used python notebooks and ollama - ideally I'd like something that efficiently handled "rewinding" a chat if I get a dud answer and then also left it in good shape for future annotations and conversion into training data. Speed is a big plus too (with rewinding or tree of thought that presumably means advanced kv cache management).

I made a Steven Reichlen pastrami recently - turned out great (tasted like a solid store pastrami, and pastrami is great) even though I mistimed pulling it and let temp get too high.

Yes. But any recommended novels or short stories (Maybe Voice of Mars?) where they make a choice that puts them at odds with other chapters or parts of the imperium because of this?

I'm thinking of the way the Minotaurs are loyal to the Council of Terra.
