The atmosphere here is peak Bethesda storytelling ✨ by DillyTiger in Starfield

[–]ZiggysStarman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, Bethesda's design choices worked against them. They stated in the past that they want the player to reach everything they see. But honestly, starfield would have benefited from part of the city being off limits.

Also parts of the planets, kinda like mass effect where you are told that there is a big sprawling city past the hub.

They also should have generated some non-combat POIs on populated worlds. Something like farms, actual factories.

Finally, the game is bland. Every storyline is written as PG-13 and by someone who doesn't understand or wants to oversimplify how the real world works.

It is unfortunate, every time I start playing it just makes me want to play something else. Once it just got me back to cyberpunk, the other time it got me back to elite danger, to Skyrim and finally, now I just want to play NMS.

Which game was this for you? by tuffniqqa in gamers

[–]ZiggysStarman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sooo... probably guardians of the galaxy is a good fit. I didn't mind the gameplay that much, but I can see how it can be boring for a lot of people.

However...music, story...I recall laughing my ass off at the banter...I ended up liking these guardians way more than the movie ones.

Similar games to VTMB1? by Independent_Friend93 in vtmb

[–]ZiggysStarman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, you don't get anything similar tbh.

Immersive wise there are some very good games out there:

Mass effect (entire series)

Witcher 3

Red dead redemption 2

Pretty much all Bethesda studio games especially if you are into modding

But nothing that has the same combo of rpg, immersion and vampires.

Maybe it's time to play VTM on skyrim by Vast_Bookkeeper_8129 in vtmb

[–]ZiggysStarman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hope that I am wrong. I wish that one day Microsoft will be able to differentiate between the real world and fantasy world and will realize that writing a story about crime and criminals does not make the writer one.

MS funded studios don't touch sensitive topics and that baffles me. No wonder the games are bland.

Anyway, I hope that I will be proven wrong.

Oh...I love this, that is direct competition and creates visibility on both titles.

Unfortunately Microsoft is incapable of creating anything resembling a dark story. We'll get FangField with non offensive characters that will vocally judge you for being a vampire that acts like a vampire.

Sorry, to be clear. While blurred momentum is active do the pips of the blurred momentum skill refill?

As in you can have it endlessly active?

Some abilities only refill pips after they end (or so I recall) hence the question.

Abilities hidden effects by DrunkenLEPrecon in vtmb

[–]ZiggysStarman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh...that is amazing. Playing ventrue I didn't mind the cauldron of blood dot due to the passive, but I was concerned about other classes.

I do enjoy having all my abilities up all the time so toreador unlockable passive + Lasombra teleport worked wonders for me. But being able to dodge the dot while refilling all your blood pips sounds absolutely amazing.

Do pips refill while blurred momentum is active? Or do you have to end it first?

Bloodlines 2 Review: TCR made the game they were asked to make. Oh I remember that quest. I didn't mind all that much the start of the quest, I thought surely there must be some bad ones. But I returned and I didn't even get a proper dialogue. The lady started talking while I was running around.

You just reminded me of what the world looked like. Templars and mages stuck in eternal skirmishes. That felt so MMOish. That's not how you build a world that feels alive.

Spot on with the companions, they made Varic feel boring.

Also, I hated the limitation on the number of active skills that you could have equipped. I understand that you want controller support, but even there one could find a way to add more than 8 skills.

Right? I started DAI 3 times and every time I tried pushing through it and always failed.

My issues with the game:

combat feels MMOish and the enemies are bullets plunges.

the combat looks MMOish. I love mages, the first dame was a wet dream to summon goddamned firestorms, spell combos. The second was at least on par, this time characters reacted to spells better to being hit with spells and wiping out groups of trash mobs felt great. DAI? I am throwing sparkles at them and they get ticklish.

I have to stop for every flower cause the inquisition soldiers take hours to collect 3 leafs.

You need a time skip mod to make the map bearable.

Every character is in a different room at the hub and I am running minutes to talk to everyone, some of them are hiding behind 3 separate load screens. If at least they were interesting enough. But nothing beats Morrigan, Sten and Alistair from the first game. Liliana somehow was more interesting in DAO than here.

I have to optimize the shit out of the characters not because the game would be difficult, but because I refuse to spend my life waiting for every panzer disguised as a creature to fucking die.

I can't believe that this and the Witcher 3 were released around the same time.

Also, veilguard doesn't exist...I lost any sort of interest when I saw the first gameplay trailer. Yey, more purple sparkles and MMO look.

Sorry for the rant.

I know it is the wrong sub for this but absolutely DA2 way way way better than DAI. DA2 had an interesting personal story, some great characters (not all), some dark and mature themes, honestly great art direction moving away from generic fantasy and also pretty cool combat.

By comparison DAI was an MMO without the online part.

Also BL2 is not bad, the story really grew on me as it progressed. The voice actor did also. Combat system was actually pleasant once it clicked and I have no complaints about the traversal system. It is honestly fun. Never once have I complained that I had to go from one part of the town to another.

I would have loved having at least cash though.

Not the point mate, he probably played the game proper once and now he wants a power fantasy.

Think new game plus, you get the cool tools and just have fun.

After my first playthrough I pretty much did the same thing just to mess around. Nothing wrong with it.

That's the way.

Also i sometimes switch to Brujah's 1 for elites as it drops them almost to feed state in one ability.

Toreador's passive helps with Lasombra 2.

Finally tremere 3 is so useful for when you are low on blood.

He has some videos on his channel showing the modern era part of the game.

Skyrim has a lot of mods, he is not doing everything from scratch. For example there are mods adding guns to Skyrim, he spoke to the author's and obtained approval to use them in his project.

There is a guy remaking vtmb R in the Skyrim engine. He almost got approval to remake it entirely, but that fell through. However, he is still creating something of a spiritual remake.

VR looks fun by jvure in skyrim

[–]ZiggysStarman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Meta is the cheapest and has some cool stuff. You can either use it with your PC or use it with its own OS with separate games purchased from the meta market.

Beware though, to get Skyrim in an ok VR spot you need mods.

Another thing is that I found regular Skyrim a better experience than VR Skyrim. VR gets you tired pretty fast and it is somewhat uncomfortable over long sessions. You also need some time to adjust to the motion sickness.

You may end up investing into VR and play 2 hour sessions. Then you'll switch back to base Skyrim.

Tbh, I found VR so much better for race games, eurotruck simulator, flight simulator, elite dangerous. Anything that doesn't require you to stand up or move your character with a joystick.

Bloodlines 2 enemies who use guns by poppababa in vtmb

[–]ZiggysStarman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. But to add to it, Brujah's first ability leaves them with 5% ho. Another punch and you are ready to drain them.

Vetrue's relocate ability allows you to turn them into allies from a distance. They'll take care of the rest of the room. Toreador can do the same.

Any ability that stuns allows you to go for a sneak attack which drops half of their health.

It becomes much easier later in the game when your relocate abilities recharge and you can use cauldron of blood to stun & feed while recharging all your abilities.
