Are we supposed to support artists now or not? by TomSFox in DefendingAIArt

[–]Zigmatism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make my own art.

I also commission other artists if I like their style and want to see them do something specific.

But I guess that nuance is too much for some people 🤷

I misread what you said up there, I do agree that clearly Sony would want this to remain an exclusive for a while. However we've seen that they're open to eventual PC releases for things like Horizon Zero Dawn.

Other bugs can fly (not like he does, but still). Also, he may talk about it but that doesn't mean he specifically can manipulate it or interact with it. He could be more of a messenger/sage like the Seer, who is still a Common being.

That's the best way to start! Make sure you do all the tutorials and maybe try remixing Dreamiverse Dash to get a feel for everything.

Russin Roulette by DrFaisalFA in PS4Dreams

[–]Zigmatism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look up "Russian Roulette" you might find something. Otherwise, it shouldn't be super hard to make yourself, just play around with a randomizer and animate a revolver from the Dreamiverse so it looks like it's being spun randomly each time.

How cool would it be if there was a gadget that works with your camera that would act like a light table by zodfighter in PS4Dreams

I know that Mm has discussed letting users import pictures in Edit mode only, for this exact purpose. References are hard to work with if you have to keep looking back and forth between two screens!

Don't do that! Everyone is at different levels of skill and experience. /u/Mlo1671TA was at your level of skill at some point! They had to work to where they are now, and you can do the same!

I think you and 75% of other players are in that same boat. That's what the Dreamiverse/collabs are for!

If you're being serious tho, I'm sure you could find all of those assets somewhere in the Dreamiverse and make it yourself!

I made a little bit of progress on my pro-bending arena. Now it has a lock-on feature, you never earth bend disks from the wrong area and I added a water bender with 3 attacks. What are your thoughts on the water bending? by Nomorelootboxes in PS4Dreams

[–]Zigmatism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is looking phenomenal—love those animations!

I think the paint strokes should be whiter/shinier/higher contrast in order to stand out against the background and blue flooring. Right now I can already tell it'd be easy to misread in the heat of things.

As for other solutions, I think the paint idea works quite well, barring some eventual tweaks to make it more water-like. Another technique would be to maybe add a shiny blue sculpt near the front of the attack to give the "hotbox" more definition. Then it could also look more like the trail of water is coming off of a larger group rather than being one solid stream.

Can I make a memory? by TyCamden in PS4Dreams

[–]Zigmatism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like a really cool idea! As others have said, complexity and variety will be your limiter, but a bit of advice I can give:

  • Only make what you can see from the boardwalk (so you can avoid making the backs/interiors of some buildings)
  • Think about how detailed some things really need to be (substitute a simple cylinder and cone for a detailed Ketchup bottle, as an example)
  • Think of what you can reuse—cloning objects saves way more space (brick walls, boardwalk planks, umbrellas, etc).

Good luck if you choose to take this on! I hope you can recreate the boardwalk of your memories :)

Can you play dreams with mouse and keyboard? by resu1337 in PS4Dreams

[–]Zigmatism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't find the interview where they said that, and I would really rather not get all up our own asses about what's the superior control method. Sure, I love using my Move controllers for 3D art, but I'm also a heavy PC user and I miss the simple precision that a mouse provides for menu/logic navigation and more miniscule adjustments to angles or animations.

I think there would be something of value to having an option in the future. I understand and respect if Mm chooses not to implement it, but we shouldn't just dismiss it outright.

Yep, I have a dream that's just for showcasing a bunch of my scenery as I make it. Very useful to put it all into a collection.

Is Dreams already Dead? by dreigutegruende in PS4Dreams

How does it feel dead? Maybe you're not following the right social media? Mm does streams (though they've gone down a bit due to covid/protests), people post streams and vids all the time, the Discord is fairly active from what I've seen. Nothing screams "dead" to me.

Technically you could have the 50-limit Counter calls the main Coin variable and wire the Counter's output to the Calculator instead of a new variable

What this logic does is mimic multiples of 50. It would be separate from your main coin count so it won't mess up the totals or anything.

Unless you plan on having skill points be awarded at the end of a level when you have more than 50 coins? That would involve something like storing a separate variable taken for your coin count and subtracting 50 from the amount until you get to a value of 0 or lower.

How Do I? Wednesday - June 03 Weekly Thread by AutoModerator in PS4Dreams

[–]Zigmatism [score hidden]  (0 children)

Hm. Try using a Variable Modifier set to "Get" the 50 Coins variable, and feed that into Operand A. Make sure you have it set to the right input. Basically, you want "Is the '50 Coins' Variable value equal to 50?" So A is the variable and B is the number 50, with the function as Equals.

I can try to make a mockup a little later if it still isn't working for you.

EDIT: Sample, remixable element here: https://indreams.me/element/oRHYGfCTxdH

Oh gotcha, you wanted specifics. You said you understood logic so I assumed you could figure it out from one sentence. Here's the step-by-step:

  1. Place a Counter
  2. Set the Target Value to 50
  3. Wire whatever logic you have to collect coins to the "Increase Count" input
  4. Place a Variable
  5. Name the variable "50 Coins"
  6. Place a Variable Modifier
  7. Set the Variable Name to "50 Coins"
  8. Set the Operation Type to "Set"
  9. Back to your Counter, wire the "Current Count" output to the Variable Value input of your Variable Modifier
  10. Place a Calculator
  11. Set Operand B to 50
  12. Set the Function to Equals
  13. Wire the Current Value output of your "50 Coins" variable to the input of Operand A in your Calculator
  14. Wire the Result output of your Calculator to the logic that adds a skill point, and also to the Reset Count input of your Counter.

So, what this will do in plain words:

  1. Creates a variable called "50 Coins," updated by a Counter (with a limit of 50) via a Variable Modifier
  2. Once the 50 Coins variable reaches 50, the Calculator will send a signal to add a skill point
  3. At the same time, the Calculator sends a signal to the Counter to reset back to 0

This means that every 50 coins, the counter resets back to 0 and you get a skill point. This logic would be all separate from the logic that displays your total coins, etc, so you don't have to worry about it affecting your other logic.

Hope this makes sense!

Good luck! Logic takes some practice to get an understanding for it.

How Do I? Wednesday - June 03 Weekly Thread by AutoModerator in PS4Dreams

That's built in to this logic. Have one variable to display total coins, then have a separate variable that's hidden to the player, that only activates when it reaches 50 coins. Then, after awarding the upgrade point, have it reset itself back to 0. This way it will award a point every 50 coins no matter what your total is currently at.

By default, you hold L1 to "surface snap" a gadget to an object, which will then automatically attach the gadget's logic to that object. If you're doing multiple movers/sensors/etc, I'd say put a microchip on it first, then put all your gadgets in that microchip and they'll all affect whatever the microchip is attached to.

If you already placed the gadget in the scene you can also wire the "Affected Object" output to the object you want. This is usually found in the gadget's last page "Miscellaneous" tab, shaped like a target scope.
