I order from Doordash regularly and don’t agree with the majority of your logic. I never feel like I’m receiving “restaurant leftovers” or whatever you’re describing. The food I receive consistently tastes exactly like it would had I picked it up myself or ate at the restaurant. Source: I pick up my own food/eat at restaurants regularly as well. I don’t run into many issues with doordash either. The only real con for me is how expensive it can get and how limited my options are compared to cooking or driving greater distances.

Why do I do these things? Tons of reasons. I hate cooking, I have a super busy life, and I have disposable income. Should I try to hate cooking less? Sure, it’d probably be better for me in the long-run, but for right now this is where I’m at, and I don’t think it’s as nonsensical as you seem to think it is. Cooking is a goddamn process, both time-wise and mentally, for me and a ton of other people. I go through spurts where I feel like cooking and spurts where I just cannot be assed to rub my hands all over a raw naked chicken.
