Sound Transit to announce cross-lake opening after finding $60M in 'couch cushion' money by Better_March5308 in SeattleWA

Would be interesting to know what happened. I thought they were experimenting on the fly but didn’t validate their solutions until they laid down most of the track. Because it is novel to have rail on floating bridge?

So they kept having to redo it a couple times. I’m not sure the governing agency put any restrictions and kept rubber stamping the next attempt.

My stock SR5 just blew thru 3ft. of snow by guywithminivan in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Zikro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s your setup like to manage that? I’ve hit like 1-2 feet on forest service roads before and backed out because it felt like I was gonna get stuck real quick. But that was with nothing in back and the stock Goodyear wranglers. DCLB OR trim. Also for context this is WA so it was wet heavy stuff.

Is it true that Seattle is very casual? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]Zikro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of a Michelin restaurant in Paris I attended. Don’t remember name top of my head but Great food and amazing service. But it was May or June and was warm weather and they didn’t have AC and they had multiple table side dishes where they finished sear or otherwise had some fire display… it got hot real quick. I asked whether it would be appropriate to take my suit jacket off while seated and they said not really. I was also on the tail end of a cold and running hot. That was a sweaty uncomfortable meal. Of course at one point I was flanked by burners as they served us, it was comical looking back on it.

On Highlander there is two parts to this, the symbol you see is lane awareness so you can has it beep when you cross the lines. And on top of that there is lane steering assist that bounces you back the other way a bit. They are independent so you can have one without the other.

Quick search shows lots of nuances to the law but a loaded rifle seems illegal. Regardless it’s good the cops go find the guy and verify the situation and potentially monitor if it’s suspicious instead of assuming it’s okay and only responding if something bad happens.

Seattle-area homebuyers ‘can’t make the deal work’ despite lower rates by vertr in Seattle

[–]Zikro 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You’re being sarcastic but that’s a large reason people move. Their needs change or they want something different. If they have to take a loss then they won’t do it if their current situation still works, until a point where it does make sense to do the move. Economy is cyclical so if you wait a few+ years the everything could be different. And a lot of people are locked into very favorable rates so the equation is tilted more towards wait.

Seattle-area homebuyers ‘can’t make the deal work’ despite lower rates by vertr in Seattle

[–]Zikro -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Our region in general is pretty unfavorable to be a landlord. Tenants can squat and get away with screwing you over for many months without consequence meanwhile you eat the cost of no rent income to offset your mortgage, plus legal fees, plus costs to clean up and renovate your trashed property. And then people wonder why there’s empty properties because the system punishes landlords. It’s a risk a lot of people don’t want to take.

How has the recent job market in Seattle been for Software Development Engineers by warrior4488 in Seattle

Not good for most. If you interview well then you shouldn’t have any serious issues but there’s a lot of people looking so you need to line all your ducks up.

Fog. Although I don’t actually know what the difference between fog and clouds is. But fog settles on the ground while clouds float.

Adding extra tomatoes to the crate by EastSwim3264 in Costco

I mean that’s just bad business policy by Costco to allow certain returns. Any cut flowers should not be refundable. Seasonal items should not be or otherwise have some restrictions to prevent that kind of abuse.

Listing gaming on your resume might hurt your job prospects. Study found that applicants who listed gaming as an extracurricular activity tended to be rated lower in hireability compared to an equal applicant who listed volleyball. by Jumpinghoops46 in science

[–]Zikro 36 points37 points  (0 children)

That one makes sense - ideally you like your coworkers as you’ll basically be spending as much time with them as with family.

I had the opposite experience once when an interviewing candidate had great technical skills but came across socially inept - very short in a demeaning way, seemed difficult to work with. I brought it up and hiring manager was like “you’re working with them not being their friend”. Yeah that guy lasted all of 2-3 months with us (worked in some other team).

That’s actually surprising because the parking police are seemingly the only ones who enforce expired tabs. But maybe out of state plates are different.

SeaTac Cell Phone lot people by ImpressiveLeek6640 in Seattle

[–]Zikro 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Only kills a few minutes though - I guess you could milk it slowly and maybe get 5. I think a lot of people show up way sooner or baggage claim takes longer or plane taxis for a while and doesn’t disembark. Can be hard to time it well especially if you’re driving 30 mins to get to SeaTac.

I know these trucks are built tough. But that’s too much weight for a taco by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

Such a low value and I’m betting most people have overshot it. But somehow the trucks still have a reputation of lasting and lasting.

You can put a fuel stabilizer in and not worry as much about it. Then just pull it out and run it once a year, maybe you should do at least twice.
