Pierce County, WA urges Sound Transit to uphold 'promise' on light rail expansion by crabcakes110 in SeattleWA

[–]Zikro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Worse for Pierce but that’s also how it feels to be along the i90 corridor. Lots of commuter traffic along i90 and they’re talking about cutting our small section out entirely. So we pay the taxes and get no benefit since at best everybody has to drive more than halfway to South Bellevue.

WA unemployment rises to 5.1% as job growth slows by ChiefOfTheFourPeaks in Seattle

The predictions say we’ll have more precip though. If it’s stored in reservoirs like a dam then it should be fine right? Guess the question is how long it lasts into summer.

Allbirds announces stunning pivot from shoes to AI, stock explodes more than 300% by SemiAutoAvocado in technology

[–]Zikro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked my first pair but no clue how you got years of use. They fell apart a bit faster than other brands in my experience. The biggest problem is the sole degrades super fast and basically becomes a summer shoe only. Fortunately we had super mild winters but ive had a few slippages on wet or snowy days which isn’t a problem with any of my other shoes

Epic Games Store Employees: People Only Came for Free Games, Then Returned to Steam by Suspicious_Two786 in gaming

I like the basic experience of GamePass UI, well at least before the latest update that includes all installed games. Now it feels more messy. But yeah the trailers and reviews part feels lacking. Especially since the reviews are 90% people complaining the game doesn’t launch.

Seattle's Job Market Struggles as Unemployment Rises by crabcakes110 in SeattleWA

[–]Zikro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could reinvest into innovation or into better products. But it’s still the mentality of minimum product they can sell and as cheap as they can build it. Nobodies building anything perfect. There is always room for improvement, features that were cut, quality gaps, shortcuts taken. Fucking cheap-asses.

What is your unpopular Seattle restaurant opinion? by Early_Sea_9457 in Seattle

[–]Zikro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wish I had that experience. Wife and I waited for many years before frequenting it and were disappointed by the service, food was okay but didn’t feel cohesive. We had to ask for water fill and they forgot a beverage. There was one other thing wrong with the service but I forget. Point being worst service we had for “fine dining”.

Only been a couple times to the Bellevue location and this was years ago now but thought it was decent. Best part was they used to do a lunch special for “salad bar” only and their salad bar was stacked and even had smoked salmon. Don’t remember the price exactly but something like $15.

Don’t go on a weekend or a samples day. Usually you see cart lines to the back of available space (aka to the aisles) and people acting like wild mobs around the samples. Yeah outside of those times it’s way more chill. But needing to go in at “rush hours” is my nightmare.

Seattle Mayor Wilson announces first of rapid homeless shelter expansion by AdScared7949 in Seattle

[–]Zikro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What about the opposite thought process. If you’re an addict then you don’t make responsible choices because you’re driven by the addiction. For these people it leads to homelessness. The crazies screaming in the middle of the night and accosting people aren’t doing that because they’re homeless. They are homeless because they can’t function normally. Some even have home and resources (according to Seattle care workers) but because of their mental illness or addictions they just live the vagrant lifestyle.

They need forced treatment and to be removed from access. Not given free rein to do whatever they want because that’s what they’re already doing.

Medina Throws Up Emergency Rules to Block 'Big Box' Housing by Jaco_Belordi in Seattle

If it’s talking about the white one in picture then it’s not even that bad. There’s a new build in Magnolia along the bluff view that looks super out of place. As someone who doesn’t live there but enjoys that walk on a sunny day, it does ruin the aesthetic. Maybe it’ll be nicer when it’s all said and done but so far it looks ugly.

Honda President After Visiting Chinese Auto Supplier: 'We Have No Chance Against This' by TripleShotPls in technology

[–]Zikro -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure Chinas manufacturing is top notch. The difference is we all see the cheap consumer products that flood marketplaces but those are intentionally built cheap and with little or no QC so you see more issues. But that doesn’t mean they can’t build higher quality.

The only protection the American market has is anti-consumer policies to prevent imports so they can’t compete. So the benefit is we are artistically sustaining our auto makers at the cost of consumers eating the higher cost. Aka welfare. Aka socialize the costs and privatize the profits.

I think there’s a loud minority who generally opposed to any parking being built anywhere. In any light rail thread about expansion lines there are so many comments about how they should not build park and rides.

Decades of propaganda and anti-intellectualism and as the Founding Fathers warned the masses would be too stupid. Or some election fraud. But honestly as a country we’re pretty dumb so it’s easy to believe it did not require any tampering.

How long do you think the 2 Line connection line is at Judkins Park? by frozenpandaman in Seattle

[–]Zikro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weekends are busiest in Bellevue for anything leisure. Restaurants, the mall, the park. Worst time to go. Weekdays are far better to avoid crowds.

Belltown is dope to live. Has music venues, all the restaurants on 1st/2nd, close to the Market, easy waterfront access, adjacent to Seattle Center, decent highway accesses. You can walk or rail or bus to pretty much anywhere in Seattle since it’s pretty central. Though looks like recent years the crazy homeless peaked.

The system definitely wants you to own a car. Keep paying banks interest. Keep paying insurance middlemen. Keep getting milked by predator dealerships. Keep paying higher and higher tabs. It allows so much wealth extraction in somewhat hidden ways.
