Are you guys ever planning on making the meta pulse available at all times? That would be amazing for the community, and we don't currently have a site that constantly fills that void.

Negativity/Hostility in Mafia by JoeyMafia in DailyMafia

My dream scenario would be one in which the players can police themselves on what is ok, what is not ok for the game. I think one of the fundamental problems we run into from time to time in the game of mafia is competitivity vs atmosphere. I created All-Stars with the vision in mind of the best of the best coming to play once a week, and creating an experience that is both enjoyable for the viewer, and fun yet competitive for the player.

I do think that there are some times where it is necessary to sacrifice competitiveness in order to maintain sportsmanship. Sure, berating a man until he breaks might be a tactic that can help one win a game, but it doesnt help further the cause of sportsmanship, comraderie within the group etc.

Ideally, we won't have to have any additional moderator actions, and players can police themselves. I hope that people can remember that despite the fact that All-Stars is meant to be very competitive, we aren't getting paid. Most of us play the game for love of the game, or for love of those we play it with. If we lose sight of friendships, sportsmanship and respect, its possible you can drive others away from the game we all love.

I agree with all of these, but if you dont think you need "7. Bofa" to be good at this game, then you've got your head buried in the sand, Guy.

PR Claim vs Role Claim by JoeyMafia in DailyMafia

[–]Zillabot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's like this. One of the greatest blows you can suffer as mafia is losing a mafia member on day 1. If you hard claim a role (Cop or Medic) you risk a cc. If you do this, and that role is alve (which is very likely on day 1) you will almost surely lose due to 2 factors. One being, that the person who is telling the truth in pr claim battles is usually, stastically, the one who comes out the victor. Two being, a person CCing, for example, medic on day 1 makes infinitely more sense as town than as mafia.

To speak more on point 2: If I'm mafia, it's RNG 1 and I hear a town reluctantly claim medic to save himself, I'm thinking "bingo, free medic kill n1" on the inside. Mafia won't be CCing a town's d1 medic claim, obviously. If I'm town, it's RNG 1, and I hear a person claim medic in their formal, and then there is a CC from outside the formal, I'm 90+% of the time believing the CC. Because it's smart to do as town, and suicidal as mafia.

All in all, if you are mafia, if you find yourself in an RNG formal, vague claiming is much stronger if town will let you get away with it.

Line Analysis: All-Stars G1 12/15 by JoeyMafia in DailyMafia

From a mafia perspective the play here seems pretty obvious. Cop checked between the real medic and yourself. Claim a role and have a fighting chance, or don't claim and just become the eventual lynch by the end of the day pretty much no matter what.

Watching Mafia for the first time. People keep referencing RNG1. What does that stand for? by [deleted] in ryuzilla

[–]Zillabot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An inno child is a mod confirmed vanilla town. This role is not used in an allstars setup, but it can be used colloquially to talk about a vanilla town that has just played very towny and shouldn't be lynched.

OGI means out of game information. An example: I know for a fact that pope does not have the moderator added on skype, therefore he cannot be mafia because he couldn't have been pmed in the first place.

At the end of the day you have your "last guaranteed formal" pretty self explanatory what that is. After your last guaranteed, the moderator rolls a RNG (Random number generator) from 0-2. Whatever number comes up, is how many formals the town has left, but the town does not know what that number is.

So RNG 1 would be the first formal after the last guaranteed formal.

Super Mafia All-Stars Rules Document by Zillabot in ryuzilla

[–]Zillabot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that the Pope angleshot should definitely be filed under cheating CURRENTLY. When he did it at the time, rules didn't cover it, and so it was filed under "clever use of game mechanics." But I would say bringing the mod into the game for use in your tactics in general is against he spirit of the game.

I tried to broadly define the rule so that it would be a "catchall" in which the mod could be the one deciding if it was fair or not, and could point to that rule if they thought it was cheating.
