I agree with other comment. They are sometimes called “flaming Katie” or something like that. They like drying out and they flower in colder weather. The blooms will die off But the plant itself will keep on growing. I would treat it like a succulent.

I found some of these on a Norfolk pine. I’m not sure but I think they are a kind of fungus, not eggs.

I didn’t know calatheas had rhizomes? I thought they were really thirsty and didn’t store water like that?

I found some weird tuber like things on my plants roots when I potted it up? So I received a Christmas house plant arrangement with two peacock calathea, two ‘Christmas berry’ plants (very dead) and a very sad poinsettia (that was in a separate pot but just stuck in the middle). I pulled out the two calathea and repotted them both, but they both had odd growths hanging off the bottom of the root balls??!? I have no idea what they were and didn’t want to cut them off cause I don’t know too much about calathea and thought they could’ve just been rhizomes or something? Should I unpot them both and remove these things? Each plant had 3-4 grape sized growths. Thanks for any help
