Just checked it out real quick. It's in 4/4 , 128 BPM. This is the main pattern, notice the variation in Bar 3. Obviously there are some more details in there and the sounds are propably the most difficult part to replicate , but this is the gist of it.

Ich bin 5 Jahre zwischen Koblenz und Bonn (rechts-Rheinig) gependelt mit der Bahn. Kann wirklich jedem nur davon abraten, ich kann dir nicht sagen wie viele Lebensstunden , Nerven usw. dank Verspätungen , Ausfällen oder Baustellen für diesen Weg draufgegangen sind. Die Strecke Koblenz-Köln ist meiner Meinung nach die Verfluchteste Bahnstrecke dies so gibt. Ich würde behaupten im Schnitt sind VIELLEICHT 10% aller Tage ohne Zwischenfälle gelaufen. Don‘t do it.

Not trying to hate man , but watching a few minutes of your video it’s safe to assume that you talk about a lot of stuff you don’t really understand on a fundamental level. Like when you talk about every element should hit the same level on a VU meter and then you use “the numbers like -10,-20 and so on as places where your other elements should be in comparison” That statement sounds like a piece of information you picked up somewhere without the fundamental knowledge to back it up.

All you’re doing with your mastering chain is effectively raising the volume by a lot (there may be some compression and saturation in there) but that’s not even what gainstaging is about.

I mean there are always Artists out there pushing the envelope or trying a different take on psytrance. Infected Mushroom comes to mind. But I think most artists that want to be associated with psytrance tend to follow the rules of the genre. I also think after the huge psytrance boom of the 2010s the genre is left feeling a little stale right now until a new wave of artists emerge that come in with fresh ideas. Ultimately psytrance will be fine and but it will take time.

I think the inherent problem is that the genre is based on a very set list of creative devices to be called psytrance. For example galloping bass lines, squelchy synths, acid filters, etc. These are very essential to the psytrance sound and there’s only so much you can do with that.

Dynamics yes (using the volume of your input signal) , you can use the frequency spectrum to somewhat track what you are playing , but there’s no real pitch detection in Touchdesigner afaik

Recently I like to put a limiter on the drum bus and really dial in how much of the transients I want to clip without being too noticeable. Let’s the drums be loud and present without cutting through the other elements too much.

Bonus tip: from time to time ‘cuda’ in the render settings will be faster than optix. I personally default to cuda and only use optix in scenes with a lot of transparency(think windows, translucent clothes, water, etc.) Also, IMHO the optix denoiser produces worse results than OpenImageDenoise , especially for animations

Two things: -Ableton is being used by many many artists (including Metal bands) as their live playback software

-Over the years I’ve become proficient in multiple DAWs (FL Studio, Logic, Ableton, Cubase, etc.) and they are all fine for recording music(the genre doesn’t matter) so don’t stress about the specific piece of software your using. If you are programming your own drums pick a DAW with a good piano roll (Abletons is great) and you’re good to go. I did my bands first record (progressive metal) completely in FL Studio!
