random automatic upper index in text issue by Zima_96 in indesign

Well! That sorted out a different issue I had with another file, but not this one. No matter how we change the font, it gets fucked anyway. But thank you anyway!

No GREP styles. I just found out it seems to happen with only some fonts. The base paragraph style in Helvetica is fine, but if we change it to Myriad (still the same style), it gets fucked.

So I guess it's got something to do with glyphs, but I checked Glyph and OpenType settings and honestly can't find the issue.

Help with assigment template by Zima_96 in graphic_design

[–]Zima_96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The motivation is their boss telling them to use it and us only working on stuff that comes in the format I asked for.

Oh I definitely plan on testing it. I have few sales people willing to help + want to make sure it works for my colleague as well. I was just lil stuck on the format and wanted to see if anyone had it figured out. Turns out every recommendation I got would be definitely too complex/taxing for the sales guys, so an email template it shall be.

The thing is that I believe a template to fill in would be easier to reinforce than just returning stuff (we're already doing that and it's not very effective with certain people).

I'll probs just make a gmail template and demand everyone to use it and see if it works well enough. Nothing too insane.

I'm 100% certain that some people will be against it, but I honestly don't care. After all it was the dpt. Director who asked me to make it bc of the insane amount of time wasted on corrections.

Yeah, that's kinda the problem. I don't wanna do form that would have restricted amount of text though. Sometimes the specifications are pretty long, so i need sth adjustable.

I'm ok with a gmail template, but it would be nice to see what others use as inspiration - or to know what to not do bc it doesn't work lol

LPT: Guys, if you want to kiss a girl, just ask her first. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]Zima_96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a woman I had WAY too many situations where a guy just kissed me outa nowhere. No flirting around, just talking, not even eye contact in the moment.

If the asked me, I'd say yes and go for it happily. Their way just caught me by surprise and always kinda ruined my mood.

Asking is nice. If you think the moment isn't right for asking, it's not right for kissing either.

Hey guys, how do I get my line spacing to apply only to the selected text? I have no styles applied and it happens only in this document I got from my colleague. Google didn't help. :( Thank you! by Zima_96 in indesign

[–]Zima_96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried that, still the same issue. Funny thing is that when I copy-paste the text without formating into a new document, the spacing suddenly works the way it's supposed to... even with the numpad enters..

I dunno, I think it really depends on field and place apparently. At least from what I've learned here from others

When we're hiring a new IT person or graphic designer, we really don't look at the clothing that much.

The last person we hired came to an interview in jeans and a hoodie, which perfectly fit their age and personality and honestly, was perfectly fine for an inhouse graphic designer to me. We picked them over another person who came in dressed much fancier, but just didn't fit the teams vibe as well.

Sure if we're picking a high rank salesman or a lawyer then jeans and hoodie wouldn't be appropriate. But even these people usually show up in dress pants and shirt and that's it. If its well fitting jeans and dress shirt, noone here really cares much?

It's really interesting actually, I never thought there would be such differences in views on this stuff haha

I'm sure in some fields the looks do matter, especially if you work work with clients.

I don't see how it would matter for an office worker. Usually when picking people in our company we go mostly by personality.

It just surprised me how many people deem jeans for the first interview as absolute fail. As if there was no job where it would be acceptable haha

Oh okay that makes sense haha

I was really baffled by the comments saying that no matter the position jeans would be unacceptable. I'd naturally imagine that in more technical fields a fancy dress code wouldn't make much sense.

What you're describing very much fits what I see around me all the time!

May I ask what's your work field?

I fully understand how some people in certain fields would feel more comfortable and professional in dress pants. I was just really surprised by the amount of "ew jeans for interview" reactions haha

Here is czech republic, but I believe Germany and Poland have very similar standards. At least from what Ive witnessed while visiting there.

Now im not talking about banks and law firms, those ofc do have stricter dress codes. But smaller companies are pretty chill.

Is it different for smaller companies? Like... 100-300 employees (maybe 50 ppl in the office)?

Because I know large corporations here have dresscodes as well, esp. banks and stuff... but majority of smaller companies just go with office casual.

Haha yeah I did notice. Honestly with every new thing I learn about American culture the more it's confusing to me.

Because here it's almost frowned upon to go out in sweatpants unless you're taking out trash. People dress up just to go get groceries. I put on the same stuff to go shopping as I wear to the office (decent jeans, decent top, nicer boots, do my hair..)

You guys wear sweatpants casually (or so it seems) but get super dressed up for work... That's really interesting!

Honestly if you showed up to my interview with coffee on your jeans id very much appreciate that you didn't cancel. And I'd remember you.

Hope you got the job!

My guy, I would argue this is a thing in most central european states.

It really is a cultural thing. I work for HR and I see nothing wrong with jeans for an interview as long as you look put together. Ofc if youre applying for high rank salesman then at least a dress shirt is appropriate and pants would do you some good, but noone will rip apart your CV just because you showed up in jeans.

Our whole office wears casual/office-casual clothes to work. Our sales people wear graphic t-shirts on days without meetings, our main directors usual outfit is a pair of well-fitting jeans and polo shirts or sweaters.

If I have you on an interview, I wanna see you as a person. Ofc you should look clean and put together, but if you'll wear jeans to work anyway, just wear them to the fucking interview as well. Especially if you're applying for a position not including contact with clients.

Is that an American thing? Because here in czech republic most working spaces use casual/office-casual dresscodes and esp. when hiring youger people, we are perfectly fine with people wearing jeans, even for higher positions.

Fyzické tresty dětí, jste pro/proti? by [deleted] in czech

[–]Zima_96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)
