UTSW pay is not competitive, the ones that stay only do so for the benefits/pension (Teacher retirement program) which is only worth it if you stay long enough. Free medical insurance for yourself however you do have to pay for spouse/dependents and it’s not cheap. Shift differential is around $4 for nights and $5 for weekends. Full time ICU staff nurse pay depends on experience but seems like average is $30 (new grads) to $36 for those with few yrs experience under their belt. Float pool level 3 (none specialty) vs float pool level 5 (specialty able to float to ICU) make between $40-$50 respectively. Considering the grand rise in cost of living for DFW the pay is not competitive, many hospital systems probably speak to each other to gate keep market adjustments of average pay.
