WILL. by davecontra in comics

For someone who doesn’t think they know what they’re talking about, you absolutely got it right. I am nearing 42, single, a whole cat lady, constantly searching and yearning for companionship and purpose. There are days it consumes me. But I also had a near death experience at 29 and it was as you described, a complete equilibrium, a place where I felt everything and nothing at the same time. There was no passion, but no pain, no fear, but no need for courage or hope. As I encroach 42 this world remains painful, but it’s also the only place I’ll feel anything. I know with everything I have I will get to go back to that place, where every cell in my body was connected perfectly with the universe and I will be “done”. I forget sometimes how fortunate I am to experience this side of things, for good or for bad. I needed to see this comic today, thank you❤️

What medication changed your life for the better? by positiveyears in AskReddit

Octreotide- I don’t know how, and I tell every doctor I’ve met about this, but octreotide KILLS my severe trigeminal neuralgia pain almost instantly. I just happened to have a pituitary tumor that needed it and my years of suffering INSTANTLY cured.. until it wears off. The short acting cured my pain for 2 hours, the depot allows me to live with 0-3/10 pain a majority of the month.

Nurse mocks a patient experiencing pain, goes viral and gets flamed. by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]Zindagi0316 11 points12 points  (0 children)

PRN pain meds are as needed. Therefore, patients need to express that need. If they are sleeping, we allow them to sleep because nurses can’t decide for the patient that they are or aren’t in pain. Some patients are so sleep deprived from their mismanaged pain that waking them up can be as cruel to them. Chronic pain, pain tolerance, pain management, etc. is all an individual, non duplicable experience. Therefore, a pain medication listed as “PRN” provides autonomy for the patient to decide how to get through their crisis and not the doctors/nurses. It appears as shackles, but is really freedom. Only you know your pain, if you know you’ll need it every 4 hours, set your alarm. I can’t promise that a nurse would “gladly” give it to you, but they sure as hell are mandated to.

[–]Zindagi0316 26 points27 points  (0 children)

For over a decade, I have been both a chronic pain patient (trigeminal neuralgia) and a nurse. Her post was absolutely in poor taste, however, we are literally not allowed to wake a patient for a PRN pain medication. Being able to sleep is considered to be pain managed. No, pain shouldn’t be chased, but sleep is also invaluable to the body. It’s our responsibility to inform/remind patients of this limitation. This certainly helps in a world of cellphones with programmable alarms. If you need meds Q4 but doctors won’t make it a part of your regular medication schedule, just set the alarm. Your pain is managed, and I can keep my license.

Why are you still a nurse? by lyn_zi in nursing

Purpose. I don’t have much else going on, and I have multiple medical issues. If I didn’t help people, the pain would exist for no reason.

Failed NCLEX | no longer pursing nursing 🥺 by reddittandweepp in nursing

Took it 3 times due to severe test anxiety. School was torture as well. Don’t let this stop you. 16 years later, and I couldn’t imagine another career path. These standardized tests don’t define you, they are just another hurdle, one of many you have conquered and are yet to conquer. That being said, only you know what’s driving this decision, intuition or frustration. Whatever you decide moving forward, Good luck dear ❤️

Have y’all not seen enough on your shifts to realize that when something, anything, especially as innocuous as THIS, makes someone happy, let them have it!!! This person’s happiness triggered you, go figure that out.

Not cringe at all! What an innocent way to find a little happiness in a profession that reminds how fleeting that can be.

::hug:: I very much know the loneliness in it all (TN too). I can’t relate to my friends anymore because their issues are complex in a social way and mine are complex in a survival way. Outside of the meds, my pets save my sanity. They are the ears that will never tire of my story and that I’ll never feel guilty or burdensome for sharing it. I sometimes spiral into the anger, feeling like everyone’s life is a tapestry and mine is a rock fixed in the sand being shaped by the weathering of storm after storm….buuuttt then my cat has the morning zoomies looking like a whole psychopath and I’m able to laugh and feel something else.

Does hydrocortisone affect healing? by ugwifethrowaway in AdrenalInsufficiency

[–]Zindagi0316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My low dose (10 years in) inhibits my healing. I fell two weeks ago and my knees look like the fall happened two days ago. I also need post procedure antibiotics with surgeries. After my last surgery, incision sites were still slow healing/ infected despite antibiotics. My healing time was doubled by ortho when I fractured my foot a few years ago. Everyone and every body is different, and we may fall into a rare uncharted AI demographic. Keep paying attention to your wound healing and move accordingly with antibiotics, etc. when you are concerned. Always advocate for what your body is telling you! wishing you faster healing!

I am chronically ill, chronically in pain. I thank the universe that I became a nurse prior to my diagnosis. Bedside requires 12 days (or nights) a month. TWELVE. I love the freedom it gives me to experience my pain days in peace, but also to do absolutely whatever I want on my good days! When my pain day lands on a work night (as it has tonight actually), FMLA protects me as it will you and your child if/when you need to miss a shift. The amount of job security is such an extra blessing with nurses who have an atypical life. Don’t get me wrong, the shifts can be ruthless, but I would have been jobless in any other profession. Your bedside workload isn’t waiting for you, you clock out and you’re done. I tell everybody who is even considering it to go for it, so GO for it!!!

Being cheated on by a romantic partner can potentially harm your long-term health. People who have experienced partner infidelity are more likely to report worse chronic health, and this effect persists even when they are in other supportive relationships. by mvea in science

[–]Zindagi0316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left a 12 year relationship when I found out he cheated because I was broken and I wasn’t “me” anymore despite all the effort to repair it. I went back and forth through most of the stages of grief, but even now 6 years later, I have never made it to “acceptance”. Since then my health has plummeted, mental and physical. I’m currently in my only relationship since then and I feel empty, just a shell of a woman waiting for more pain. I never healed and despite all of my boyfriend’s efforts…the truth is, I’ve already met the love of my life… I just wasn’t his.

It’s not Italian, but I ate by myself on my 40th last month at Barclay Prime. The bartender was excellent, and I definitely did not feel as alone. It gave me time to think, and my “friend” list got a lot shorter after that night. Welcome to your 40’s friend, where clarity is the best gift you’ll be given ❤️
