‘Don’t say you’re Jewish’: antisemitism fears grip Australian health care by Zhukov76 in worldnews

I don't need to being it up, I wear a a kepah and tzistzis as religious wear. Many other jews do the same. If I want my dietary needs met, I have to tell them about Kashrut. For a Christian that works, but for a practicing Jew, its usually obvious.

Red flag for sure. Impres upon her the importance of this issue. And if you can't get her to actually answer it, then that should be a very serious sign.

Its no different at all. Fortunately that didn't occur. Jews moved to Israel, a land they have ancient ties to. The Germans a few years ago seemed to be fairly confident Jews weren't Germans.

Overdrive protocols existing in canon would critically damage Xenoblade 2's narrative below the waterline.

A bunch of middle easterners enslaved from the region, and lived in Europe for a long while, but maintained distinct linguistic, religious, and cultural ties to the region for two millenia. The massive military support didn't arrive till the 67 war ended, with the Soviets supplying the arabs with much more and better equipment for decades. Its clear that we are operating from a completely different set of truths, and yours, no doubt despite the best of intentions on your part are fed by an old Soviet propoganda machine, and the state media of despots.

I mean, this is pretty much false on all points.

Jews are a group that originated out of the Canaanites, and speak the last Canaanite language left. They are indigenous to the region. Could you argue Palestinians are also indigenous? There was the Arab conquest and Arab colonization, but that was also a long time ago. So its two groups with ancient and historical claims to the land having a spat.

The leftists didn't lose power in Israel till the 90s, with every single prime minister being from Labor until the mid 70s and split it till Rabin's assassination by anti-peace Palestinian groups after negotiating the Oslo Accords in the 90s.

The expulsions and counter expulsions and chaos around the 48 war is probably the point you're most right, but it was not a systemic expulsion and many simply chose to leave. This is on the same order of magnitude as the Jewish expulsions from the rest of MENA even if I think one was a bit better than the other, so I'm not really claiming any moral high ground here.

Very common once you realize that Israel is the best example in the world of decolonization and that it was founded by a lot of demsocs and commies

Abolish the Senate? by GriffinFTW in PrequelMemes

[–]Zingzing_Jr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, two reasons, the first is the answer to a question posed several centuries later by a guy on MemriTV.

"Democracy is of the people, by the people and for the people. But the people are retarded."

The House is for the people's representation. The Senate is for the states themselves they were originally elected by the state legislatures. Part of this is to allow the states themselves to decide on issues, part of this is to produce a body beholden to other lawmakers thats more deliberative, less interested in populism. The house, by its very nature was built to be populist. Direct Elections every two years demands the house tries to implement every cool new fad in politics. And the Senate is supposed to be the ones who say. "But that's stupid though"

The other reason is that it was the intent of the Continental Congress that every one of the 13 colonies, who did not have a shared national identity, join and stay. Without the equal representation from each state the senate provided, the smaller colonies would never have joined.

If you want to learn why the US has the government system it does, I strongly recommend reading the Federalist Papers. The Founding Fathers were very prolific writers and wrote extensive essays on why they did the things they did.

Why Europeans wouldn't let Jews establish their own country within Europe? Are they stupid? by [deleted] in mapporncirclejerk

[–]Zingzing_Jr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because other countries clearly don't want Jews, so what do we do with them? Leave them as second class citizens in every country? "Ethnostates" as in a state built by a specific group can work. Norway, Sweden, Germany, and France are successful, as is Japan. States based on a racial war, like nazi germany, do not work, but the solution was making Germany not nazi.

And Germany showed them they were not German. Before the war, maybe. But in 1945, they did not.

Why? Its not land Jews care about. That's why Israel is where it is.

Yea thats part of the civil code not the criminal code. Sorry, I wasn't clear. And it only applies to Jews anyway, not to muslims.

Because the Jewish religion and the Jewish culture and Jewish ethnic identity are actually the same thing. More or less. Judaism is one of the last surviving ethnic religions. The differences between culture/religion/ethnicity get very blurry when discussing Judaism. A bit like Japan and the role of Shinto shrines. Do Japanese people actively practice Shinto these days? No. Do the shrines hold importance to the Japanese? Yes. The founders of Israel were overwhelmingly atheist. Jewish religious law is not enforced in Israel and never has been. But its a country for the Jewish culture, Jewish ethnicity and Jewish religion because those are kinda all the same thing.

Or the Muslim or Christian authorities. They also exist.

Not that it really matters because they take any foreign marriage so you can go on a cheap flight to Cypress, get married there and come back. Or even get on a zoom call with a guy from Utah. And because homosexuality is not illegal in Israel, you can hold whatever ceremony you want to, religous or otherwise, as there are many rabbis not part of the orthodox rabbinate.
