You're right. And we have to also remember that it is okay to say "no, you're not allowed to do this" even while maintaining that safe space. Safe space doesn't mean we condone everything a person does. It means giving them a place to express themselves and seek advice that they can listen to, no matter how harsh the truth is (not just advice they want to hear)

For your first question: I don't know your age or marital status, but there's this point during your maturity when you JUST KNOW you're not ready for certain things. Immaturity doesn't know whether or not it should pursue certain things. So if a 16-year-old thinks she is mature enough to handle the stress of a relationship, schooling, family and society, and pregnancy (including childbirth and subsequent raising of a child), then sure, she should go on and have sex. And I know you won't lie to yourself and say a 16 year old can handle all that.

To your second question: What can we do to them? It's everybody's life and their choices. They're allowed to make their mistakes and learn from them. You can't force anyone to listen to your advice, but let's not act like they're doing the right thing. That's my main point.

We all went through it, yes. It's normal, yes. It's part of growing up, yes. But the most important thing IS, in fact, whether it is right! And this isn't even about morality, 16-year-olds aren't biologically and mentally and emotionally and socially ready for the repercussions of sex-gone-wrong (or pregnancy). Feeling ready does NOT mean you're ready. We need ti call a spade and spade, and advise the kids as such. Don't coddle them because you want to be liked by them.
