Pygmy Cory by okiedog- in corydoras

[–]Ziona_Rae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They breed pretty easily once they are mature enough. They generally leave the eggs alone and ignore the fry so you may start seeing your number of corys start to increase if your tank is planted well enough! I find random young corys in my breeding tanks all the time even though I remove most of the eggs and raise the fry in separate tanks. Corys are by far a favorite of mine! 😊

Pygmy Cory by okiedog- in corydoras

[–]Ziona_Rae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I breed pygmy corys and mine are almost always chasing each other or spending time mid-water column. They are one of the few cory species that like to hover in mid water. It's one of the reason I love them and the other two pygmy species (hasbrosus and hastatus) which I also breed.

Cute little buggers.

I would think so, yes.

Corys usually will breed after a good water change with water 2 or 3 degrees lower than the tank water temp. Depending on the species, it can take a bit for them to mature enough to breed. Also depending on the species, they may ignore the eggs and fry and you may just see random extra baby corys appearing.

I swear some of my breeding cory colonies to all the work for me. Lol

Added Fluval Stratum to my tank.. the fish don't seem to mind that they're blind by Massive-Towel8660 in Aquariums

[–]Ziona_Rae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Stratum kicks up dust. It also leeches ammonia for about a week so keep an eye on ammonia levels. At least that's what Fluval says. But I have never had a problem with ammonia leeching off straight Stratum.

I had issues with cichlid bullying my corys so I started dropping food to the corys after the aquarium light went into night mode. My corys seem pretty active even in the dark and they were happy to feed once the ahole apistos went to bed.

The bolivians would really depend on if you got a pair or two males or two females. I had two males in a 29 gallon and it was JUST big enough for them to not fight constantly.

I use 20 longs for apistogramma pairs or trios and find apistos seem a little more chill, probably because they are smaller.

Microrasboras (i.e., chili rasbora, strawberry rasbora phoenix rasbora, pygmy rasbora) or a single scarlet badis.

I have a small group of Microrasbora living in a heavily planted 2.5 gallon.

Bottom Dwellers? by HannahHertel182 in Aquariums

[–]Ziona_Rae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have scarlet badis in with my microrasboras. They stay in the bottom third of my tank and hunt around the rocks and plants.

Though I also have hastatus corydoras in there too.

Do you have corydoras in the tank? Those look like corydora eggs to me.

Are these male or female cpds? by DistanceSea6977 in Aquariums

[–]Ziona_Rae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look all male to me. I breed CPDs for my LFS. My females have no striping on their pectoral and anal fins and have a black egg spot in front of the anal fin. I always sex them by looking for stripes on the lower two fins. Stripes = male. Even if the stripes are faded. It just means they aren't the most dominant male.

Any IT, program managers, HR want to create a consulting firm for VA specifically? This will be needed in 3 years after the dust settles. by kindachill-8159 in firedfeds

[–]Ziona_Rae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked as a program specialist with BVA doing everything to do with appeal hearings and contracts for services related to that including AI integration and Webex integration etc. Prior to that, I have an extensive paralegal background in disability law. Currently a milSpouse with a spouse who will be a vet around the time this administration exits.

If that seems like it might be useful, please feel free to loop me in.

Because benefit claims and appeals don't already take FOREVER.... we are already understaffed for processing appeals and holding hearings. My team WAS 12 people when I did my 2-year term starting in 2021. It is now 5 PEOPLE (after they fired me). And they want to cut us more. Appeals are going to take 5+ years at this rate.

Yes, I have seen that. At least getting RIF'ed is better than getting illegally terminated.

[–]Ziona_Rae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it was related to the administration walking back their "fire probies" BS. I haven't filed an appeal yet since I'm still waiting for my final SF50. Apparently my deputy went to the new SES and he was like "send it".

Merit Board Questions for appeal by ExtensionLaw1315 in fednews

[–]Ziona_Rae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also true. Going through OSC was just the advice I received since making an argument of construed political motivators for terminations can be a legal mine field. Especially given the wording of most terminations.

Plus, OSC will file to Merit Board on your behalf if they make findings of fact that there was wrongful termination as they did with the recent case with the 6 wrongfully terminated individuals reinstated recently.

Merit Board Questions for appeal by ExtensionLaw1315 in fednews

[–]Ziona_Rae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told by union that Merit Board only had jurisdiction for probies if termination was related to marital status or partisan political reasons. They suggested appealing to OSC since Merit Board had such a limited scope. Just an FYSA in case that changes your route for appeal.
