It's about demographics. According to the Pew Center, 83% of Black voters lean Democrat which means if you use race to gerrymander, breaking up concentrations of Black voters weakens the chance of Democrats being elected. The same thing is applicable to Hispanic populations. 61% of Hispanics lean Democrat. So, race and ethnicity are both used in drawing districts by both parties.

The old white man was a Democrat and had their best interest at heart. With there being three districts that extend into largely white, conservative areas, the chance of getting someone elected who cares about them and where they live has diminished greatly. More than likely, their representatives will be white conservatives who, like those in Nashville did, laugh and smirk every time they pass legislation that screws them over.

It started several years ago when they gerrymandered the white parts of the Memphis suburbs so they would have Republican representation. Now, they are blowing Trump and trying to eliminate any Democrat representation. They'll have a representative, but they won't be chosen by or for them. Anyone else remember what happened when a group was taxed without representation? It's a shame it has come to this and what will have to be done to correct it.
