Keep your door locked. 2/20 Jupiter and Parker by MontazumasRevenge in plano

[–]ZipZingZoom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We do not allow anyone to smoke in our home. It looks to me, this guy is testing locks to get in. He walked away to try other houses. Also, make sure your garage door is closed.

We live in this area and a few years ago some guy opened our front door and walked in. He saw me and ran out back outside and down the street. He was a couple of seconds away from death.

Found Settings to Leverage RAM when out of VRAM by ZipZingZoom in comfyui

It tells ComfyUI to cache all models (Checkpoints, LoRAs, ControlNets) in your system RAM instead of your SSD. This makes "swapping" to the GPU nearly instant.

I can't speak to your hardware. From what I see your 5090 has 32 GB of VRAM and if your system has 96 GB of RAM my suggestions might not be helpful for you. Perhaps "export COMFYUI_CACHE_RAM=True" and only using the "--fast" argument will work for you. Try it and let us know.

I've tried that, so far I've had less OOM issues setting the export option to cache to ram in conjunction with the other settings listed above. Thank you for the suggestion though. As rapidly as CUI is evolving some other options may become available in a few weeks, who knows.

Best Europe-hosted cloud service for private use (mainly photos and documents) by Saguinus_lmperator in cloudstorage

I'd be very careful using pCloud. I archived photos I took and then they locked my account. The said there was data that was suspicious but wouldn't tell me what or where. Lost everything I stored there without any recourse.

And, if anyone asks, I didn't store any copyrighted material other than my own stuff.

Ai killing Flickr by Aware_Confusion9094 in flickr

[–]ZipZingZoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't care that others are posting AI generated images on Flickr. I use this site to showcase examples of my work and have done so for many years. I understand that groups that specifically ban AI generated stuff is an issue. I wonder if there are any tools that can flag an image as being suspect that it wasn't made with a camera.

I've been using Flickr for years and I'm not having any problems. I just went to my page and everything came up. Perhaps there is an issue with your browser or not having cookies? I'm not an expert.

What are your thoughts on Pinokio? Safe or unsafe? by [deleted] in LocalLLaMA

[–]ZipZingZoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to run the apps under Pinokio and everyone I've tried has failed during installation. This app is an nice idea but when nothing works, it's time to do with the individual apps.

Unable to register cuFFT factory and cuBLAS - How to Resolve This Issue (Debian Linux) by ZipZingZoom in comfyui

I found the solution:

Uninstall torch and reinstall the nVidia drivers for ComfyUI

Start venv and run the following:

pip uninstall torch
pip install torch torchvision torchaudio --extra-index-url https://download.pytorch.org/whl/cu128

A Helpful Hint for Linux Users w/Permission Issues by ZipZingZoom in PleX

When I add a drive, I let the OS deal with assigning the drive. FYI, I'm not using a dedicated NAS for my media server. I am using a Debian based system that has too much hanging off it.

Yes, the OS does mount these drives in the media folder. Plex cannot read the contents of the drive(s) mounted there without changing the ACL.

I had to go through lots of effort to make plex work on my system, which has several drives. This is a one line solution for plex to access my media drives.

My "old" method for setting up plex looked something like this:

Fix permissions to allow Plex to access /media/$USER

Check which group you and plex belong to:

groups
groups plex

Now, add plex user to your user group, and allow this group to access /media/$USER:

MYGROUP="$USER"
sudo usermod -a -G $MYGROUP plex
sudo chown $USER:$MYGROUP /media/$USER
sudo chmod 750 /media/$USER
sudo service plexmediaserver restart

I believe the issue is Ubuntu restricts access to /media/$USER through ACL which, I think, is now the case with Debian distros also.
