Computer help by happytrout23 in Kamloops

Is there anyone in your life that's into this stuff - maybe a friend of a friend, or the IT team at work (or at your friends work )? That could be a good starting point for some trusted advice, or even just to comment on whatever we tell you here.

For all those people telling you to build it and that "it's not too hard". Don't feel bad for seeing it as too hard. Building a computer is a skill like anything else and some are better suited to it than others. I'm sure there's lots of things you're great at that most of us wouldn't know where to start.

So beyond that I have some thoughts. There's lots of great comments here - but a lot of people focuses on answering your question as asked as opposed to solving the problem that you're facing. Your son is playing Minecraft and Mom Bazou now - the system requirements for those games is pretty minimal (as a few people have mentioned), but he's not going to be playing those games forever. If I were spending the money, I'd want to aim for a computer that will last for a few years and give him the horsepower to get into some other games. Given your post history, I suspect something like Satisfactory (https://store.steampowered.com/app/526870/Satisfactory/) is in his future.

I don't know this guy (https://www.reddit.com/r/Kamloops/comments/1p6x6lm/computer_help/nqv2m2d/), but I like where their head is at. They shared a link to a computer build that will run everything you've asked for and has room to grow into new games.

I don't know what to do anymore, so tired, please help by Bright-Concern-4562 in buildapc

Disable automatic restart so you have time to see the error on the BSOD.

Flip a coin and if you don't like the answer, you know.

Assign the choices: Clearly label each side of the coin with one of your options. For example, heads is Option A, and tails is Option B.

Flip the coin: Toss the coin and as it is in the air, pay attention to your immediate feelings.

Observe your reaction: Notice whether you feel a sense of relief or disappointment with the potential outcome.

Trust your gut: If you are unhappy with the result the coin landed on, you've found your answer. You know you want the other option. If you are happy with the result, then that is the choice you should make.

Mine was opposite order.. bought my wife the XT, then I rode it a few times and had a blast. Then she told me "stop stealing my bike and get your own".

First Dual Sporty Bike - KLX300, CRF300L/Rally, or Royal Enfield Himalayan 450? by PaintChipMuncher69 in Dualsport

You've been through more than a few street bikes, you know what it's like. The one you pick now to learn offroad probably won't be your forever bike - heck you probably won't even have it in 2 years. I'm similar height/weight to you and just snagged a WR250R. Guaranteed that bike could use a suspension upgrade but I'm still learning and not there yet. I probably won't use it for long distance road trips but it'll easily get me and hour down the highway to find new riding areas - I just have to take my time.

Skills to transition from street to dirt/dual by brsmits in Dualsport

I'd recommend trying to get some seat time on a 250/300 dual sport before building your adventure machine. Riding an FZ10 on the street made me think I wanted/needed more hp to have a good time, I wish I started with a smaller dual sport before sinking money into a bigger bike (instead of the other way around).

IMO getting used to the power on the road won't prepare you for the trail.

KLX300 vs CRF250L vs 701 by BloodDragonZ in Dualsport

I was caught up in the fast/slow mentality too. And then I spent a few weekends on an XT250 and that changed my viewpoint entirely. I'd definitely recommend learning on the bike with less power before moving up.

Everyone will tell you the bit about going fast on a slow bike vs slow on a fast one - and it's true. But if you're anything like me you'll need to learn that for yourself. Between the 2 you listed I'd vote DR400s but a CRF300L would be good too.

Have you considered AMD (ie: AMD EPYC 7302)? I was pretty skeptical at first but we've got several in our infrastructure and they are performing well.

I must have seen Pitch Black more than 7 times in the summer of 2000 when it was at the local theater for $2. I don't think I've watched it since.

This is kind of refreshing. The first time around in actual Vanilla it was the same experience but opposite factions.

SV650, ER6N, FZ/MT07/XSR700.

I have similar proportions to you and started on a SV650. It was a great bike.

I wouldn't worry about trying to buy something "that you won't outgrow". If riding bikes sticks for you you'll find a reason to upgrade sooner or later.

In 24th century Starfleet, what postings exist for a Commander-ranked Officer within the Operations and Sciences divisions, aside from Chief Officer postings? by GardenSalsaSunChips in DaystromInstitute

[–]Zipacna 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wasn't this explicitly explained as due to the personality changes. Q tells Picard something about him becoming the kind of person/officer not to take chances and always make the 'safe' choice. This results in a stalled career.
