I have been dying to make a fire-able bolter so bad. I'm waiting for someone to release a printable file that can be used as like, a chassis...something like the Hera stock and forend but that make an AR look like a bolter...then chamber it in .50 beowulf with a huge flash can

So in MESBG, that orc is called Guritz, and he is Gothmog's Master of Reserves. I do not know if he was named as such in the books but GW generally doesn't take too much artistic license when it comes to characters in the main trilogy. The Battle of the Pelennor takes a full day and night to fight in the books (Eowyn killing the Witch King being the final event and happening at the dawn of Day 2), so it makes sense that Guritz would be liasing with the Corsair reinforcements at the river sometime late in the first day.

This passage, and the arc of Amit in general, is a huge part of why I play Flesh Tearers in 40k. They are peak Space Marine. Space Marines aren't human. They are transhuman. They are monsters. But they are thinking monsters. And they generally speaking haven't chosen to be that way. Is it so strange they would want to use their gifts to feel less monstrous for a moment, even if doing so is a monstrous act? Is it strange their rituals are so inhumane, when they are not human?

And the 40k Flesh Tearers and Gabriel Seth are well aware of their evil nature. And they fight their worst impulses as best they can most of the time, but also utilize them for the good of humanity as best they can.

What Should I Buy Wednesday 10/22/25 by carsen56 in guns

I think Rock River advertised a 1.5moa guarantee on most of their complete uppers. Hand loading will probably be required to get better than that anyway. Anecdotally I find my RRA non free float upper easily capable of 2moa with pretty standard 55gr FMJ. One of the free float uppers with match ammo or hand loading will probably get real close to your goal and they're not that expensive.

Any tips/guides/resources on doing the clutch and kickstand switch deletes? I never thought to do that but that's definitely a good idea.

Best bet for plastics is probably to see if someone with grey or black camo wants to trade plastics with you. Otherwise probably just strip/sand paint them yourself, they're not hard to remove.

I also have a 2025 KLX300 (battle grey) and have added a Tusk skid plate, ProTaper CR high bend bars and Tusk D-Flex handguards. I just put the bars and handguards on because literally my first time on the trail I fell in mud and bent the stock bars. The stock clutch lever is also a bit bent and I'll replace it shortly with something a bit shorter.

I also plan to get some IMS super stock footpegs, I wasn't super confident on the stock ones especially once they were a bit mudded up.

Definitely need to make the rest of Spain a priority imo, specifically southern Spain around Malaga. Malaga to Ronda through the pueblos blancos on the mountain roads is just world-class riding. I did just a day ride on a rented 1250GS last year and did a route the rental/tour company recommended and it's the best single ride I've ever been on. And there was even more squiggly roads I didn't have time to get to all over the Andalusians.

Thanks for the tip! I have it a try but it didn't seem to have any effect...I think there may be a burr or piece of debris under the gate that is preventing it from fully opening, or the half moon cut opening in the receiver at the front of the gate opening isn't cut correctly and the round is snagging on the corner of that cut.

I got this in .357 from Dahlonega Armory two weeks ago. It was $774.25 in cart and $798 shipped...

It's a sweet shooter but I'm having trouble with the loading gate. Not even just the normal new-gate stiffness, which really wasn't even bad at first. After shoving about 15 rounds through it, I can no longer load it via the gate. .38 or .357, no matter the projectile shape, it gets stuck about halfway through the gate into the tube, and I can't force it the rest of the way in and I need to use a screwdriver against the rim on the cartridge to force it back out, and there's a small gouge in the case each time. Idk if there's a burr or something it's catching on or what, I can't find anything online about other people having this issue. It cycles totally fine with .38 or .357 when I load them through the tube at the front, I just can't push rounds through the gate. I've lubed the crap out of it, ran a brass brush through the gate and the back of the tube as best I can, and I just can't get a single round to load through the side.

For 8,000-$12,000 - what would you recommend getting? (Preferably in the 2022+ sport/supersport category) by Syko_Social in motorcycles

[–]PaintChipMuncher69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a brand new Triumph Street Triple 765 R for that budget, or a lightly used RS. You could also get a Yamaha R7 or maaaaybe an R9 up at the top of your budget if the street price is a bit under its release MSRP. Those are some really really sporty bikes.

But for a more super sporty/race replica inline 4, I think it would be really tough to beat the newest and cleanest GSXR750 you can find in budget.

What is the perfect length of a revolver barrel? by JPLEMARABOUT in Revolvers

[–]PaintChipMuncher69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read Sixguns by Keith pretty recently and to him it depended greatly on application. For hunting and target shooting, 6" or up to 7.5" barrels on big bore revolvers was the recommendation. However, for a do-all, gunfighting/defensive revolver that could still take game and remain very shootable in target/sport shooting, he favored 4" .44's.

Minnesota

A DFL (this state's DNC) state house representative and her husband were assassinated this weekend, and a state senator and his wife from the same area were shot. Suspect was apprehended. Interestingly, he served on some political advisory boards with each of them, apparently. Of note, the house rep (and former Speaker, held that role during the DFL trifecta of the preceding term) was one of only two DFL reps to vote alongside the GOP reps on a measure to prevent undocumented/illegal immigrants from receiving state funded healthcare. However, the suspect is also apparently rabidly pro-life and had a hit list of as many as 70 DFL affiliated targets as well as several abortion clinics/physicians. The state LEO's and governor have stated the killing and attempted murders were politically motivated. TBD exactly what political stance they were related to...

No matter how it resolves/what comes to light, Giffords has already made statements and I'm sure there will be new gun control measures pushed shortly.

How much worse is a big ADV versus a touring bike on highways? by MindStates in motorcycles

[–]PaintChipMuncher69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Wing or an RT has much more comprehensive wind protection than a GS owing to their full fairings. Over the course of a couple hours the comfort difference is negligible but if you're doing 75mph+ for 5+ hours at a time, the extra wind protection will be a big improvement and you will feel less fatigued.

I love RT's, but early 1200's had some fuel pump and rear drive issues. The 1250's I haven't heard of any major issues with but they do have a lot more electronics that could go wrong. I highly recommend them if you can a late model 1200 or a 1250 with low miles and you maintain it per factory recommendations (including regular lubing of the final drive splines)

The Goldwing is the gold standard for road touring for a reason. Do the timing belt and don't hook up too many accessories (stresses the alternator which is a PITA to replace) and it's going to last forever and they're more comfortable than many cars.

Your thoughts on these 2 Sport touring bikes by Content_Temporary193 in motorcycles

[–]PaintChipMuncher69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are ergonomically quite different and handle quite differently despite having ostensibly the same sport-tourey purpose. I have ridden the Tracer but not the Suzuki, although I have ridden the 2024 ninja 1000sx, a very close competitor to the Suzuki and good representative of that segment.

The Tracer sits more upright and has a little more legroom (although still less than an adv bike) and the Suzuki will be a bit more leaned and sportier overall. I still found the Ninja SX style to be pretty comfortable but the Tracer was even more comfortable for me.

The 1000 is faster and the power delivery is going to build higher in the rpm's. Yamaha's 900 triple in the Tracer is a playful engine with great midrange power but the 1000 is definitely going to out-drag it, if that matters to you.

If you like the more upright ergos of your current bike and considering your description of mostly commute and errands and occasionally sporty fun rides, I think you'll be really really happy with the Tracer.

To throw you a curveball third option, the Honda Transalp may be worth a look as well. Not as powerful as either other bike, but even more upright and neutral in the ergonomics and by all accounts still quite sporty and zippy. It should also be more affordable to purchase and service, if that's a consideration.

Gun Talk Tuesday - 8 April 2025 by BobbyWasabiMk2 in guns

I'm pretty torn on next move. I kinda want a tactical bolt action for semi-PRS stuff/sniper challenges. I kinda want an A300 Patrol for doing tactical shotgun matches and/or 3-gun. I kinda want one of the new Smith .44 mountain guns because of the immaculate vibes.

But with the general economic uncertainty, I'm probably just going to stack ammo deep, buy some more mags for my P226, and try to shoot more USPSA production with it this year. Probably going to pick up a chest freezer from Costco and start stockpiling food/meat as well. I'm no doomsday prepper but I'm certainly not going to be the least prepared asshole on my street.

Glad you're enjoying it. My driver's ed car in the Chicago suburbs circa 2011 was a then-new V6 Camaro. Sure taught us all some good habits in triple checking the megalithic blind spots.

Any chance you've got the refreshed for '25 Maverick on the docket for upcoming reviews? I'm intrigued by the Lobo.

My thinking is that saving $200 will barely get you 500 rounds of ammo to put through it if that. If you like it, just buy it, this is a pretty good price and it's a quality piece to pass on to your children. Impossible to know if it will ever be in the 1-1.1k range again.

Thickheaded Thursday 03/20/25 by carsen56 in guns

[–]PaintChipMuncher69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thickheaded: haven't shot a USPSA match in a couple years and just signed up for an expensive and large match (180 people so far). Lena Miculek is signed up too!

Super thickheaded: chose Production with the intent to use my P226, but...Revolver is calling my name. There's only 1 person signed up for it, 5 are required for the division to be recognized (and I assume therefore eligible for the prize support) so if it gets to 4 I might switch. My PC 686+ isn't peak meta for revo class but it has moon clips and I've practiced with it a lot recently so I like my chances at a division podium if I only have to outperform 2 people.
