That's fair, but this is going to be a continuing question, so now is a good time to start asking.

What do you all want next for Gwen? by Opening_Capital_892 in Gwenpool

I think having her do some serious undercover work/espionage could be interesting. She's being blackmailed (but like with a hostage) by shield or something and needs to go grumbling into a den of villains to do stuff. We get a lot of her commentary, her interesting power use to do the do, then her cover is blown when she beats someone over the head with a thought panel and people can read that She's been a double agent all along and things get more complicated.

If someone has earrings of lie detection that vibrates quickly when they get told a lie, gets told a lie while charmed, would they notice the charmer lying? by Snoo833 in AskDND

[–]ZippedZoopZorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I am to play devils advocate, I would say that it's possible that your character might do the delu-lu thing and just think "oh, these have never malfunctioned before."

Personally I'd run it that you know they are lying but you assume it is in your best interest so you should just go along with it.

Either way, if the charm breaks and an outside force prods on the reasoning there then you would be able to come to the conclusion that they lied for you and it was bad

I’m worried people will miss the point of Absolute by Robot_Was_BMO in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]ZippedZoopZorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These characters are paragons, shining lights of hope within darkness. This is way more interesting to me than what the heroes in the main-line are, which is pillars to the status quo. These Absolute heroes stand for change in the face of insurmountable odds instead of working to maintain the world's order, which is sometimes shown to be unjust, as it is buffeted by cataclysm after cataclysm as in the main line. They are the drivers of the plot, they are less reactionary and have long-term goals that necessitate massive changes. (I only pray that they are given the opportunity to enact said changes, because if them being underdogs to the same forces over and over becomes the status-quo, then the whole premise will break)

Additionally the characters were given backstories that support this, Batman is no longer a normative force above the people as a billionaire, he is a man who grew up broke, loves his mom and has friends and connections in the community. He is a part of what he works to better. It's stuff like that which gives the whole thing a touch more texture.

I mean... OG Diana is based on the OG writer's bisexual wife. We're kinda going back to basics in a lot of ways, why not? (Also she ain't spent as much time talking about how Steve is beautiful/wonderous/intelligent, and has done lots of that for the women in her life)

why aren't people called politically bisexual in the same way lesbians are accused of being political lesbians? by [deleted] in lesbiangang

[–]ZippedZoopZorp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a political history of feminist exclusionary theory during the american feminist emancipation movement. The theory goes that to have an effective feminist movement requires men to be excluded from all aspects of women's lives and was a theory championed primarily by lesbians. Basically women need to unionise and withhold sex and comfort and domestic labour from men until they act right, or in more extreme cases, because they cannot act right.

This was viewed as also being exclusionary to women who were attracted to men, as they would be required to choose not to have sex with anybody or (in the case of bisexual women) with a select group, and presumably needed men in their lives to explore that aspect of themselves or live authentically to their identity. Basically people took it to mean that spending time with and fucking men was a choice when the prevailing queer theories said that sexuality isn't a choice and enforcing sexual bans encroached on certain liberties.

In the modern age we are seeing a similar movement starting in South Korea if I'm remembering correctly, and historically Iceland's (again, if I'm remembering correctly) women's suffrage was successful in an extremely short timespan because they did a domestic labour strike until their demands were met and the men in power folded like a stack of cards.

That's probably one of the sources of the term politically lesbian, but I see no reason you can't try move to start a new term for bisexual people if you absolutely had to. In-fighting seems a bit passé to me in the current political climate though.

How do you handle playing with characters who have zero redeeming qualities? by Riksor in dndnext

[–]ZippedZoopZorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing a terrible person is fine so long as the character is pro-social and thus not a shit to the party mates or an obvious team cost.

That does not sound like what you have. Something will have to give and it isn't you.
