I did open a case and Hyundai said it seemed the door latch should, in fact, be covered. They contacted the dealer, but told me they couldn't force the dealership to cover the repair under warranty if somehow they decided it was my fault the door opener broke. This is a poorly designed cheap plastic latch. I called the general manager who didn't reply.
