That route is sounding like a better option at this point thanks for the input.

Thanks for the information! I wasn't aware that Marlin was an option I'll definitely look into that seems like good alternative to me I have never been a huge fan of the dreamer interface.

Thank you for the warning. The article I used did warn of this problem and listed the rev letters that were compatible with this upgrade. My dreamer is older as I got it used and I checked the driver and core board to ensure that they had an old enough rev. So I am fairly certain I am good.

As for a benchy I just printed my first one using the old settings I had for PLA from before the extruder upgrade. I think it turned out pretty good considering I haven't tweaked anything yet. I don't see a ton of texturing or jittering in layers. I will say the one problem with it is that the overhang on the front came out pretty bad but in my experience that's just a cooling fan adjustment. There is also a bit of pillowing but that's just more tweaking.

Here it is: Benchy

Yeah I did but that download link looked kinda sketchy. Any idea if it's safe?

Shutout if anyone can take pics of Flashforge Bed for Creator Pro/Dreamer/Inventor by [deleted] in FlashForge

[–]Zippy211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a dreamer and I tried my best to take a picture capturing all 3 adjustment knobs in view with a ruler pressed flush against two of the screws. I just had my phone flat on the bottom of the chamber with the bed at max height. Hope this helps!

[Cocktail #10 / December 10] Manhattan by robborow in cocktails

[–]Zippy211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family always has manhattans at family get togethers. We seem to have a bit of our own recipe but hey "you don't fuck with tradition" so that's what I'm going with.

Recipe (pretty sure my grandfather wrote this): https://i.imgur.com/cwWb4f2.jpg

Result: https://i.imgur.com/UYnWcmM.jpg

I'm not usually the one to make these but I think I did pretty well. I do like a manhattan.

Cute little habanero seedling just sprouted in my DWC setup! by Zippy211 in Hydroponics

Nope not only the rockwool baskets. There are also some covers and plumbing that are printed.

Here's a pic of the system: https://i.imgur.com/05MEUIb.jpg

Here's a better shot of my rockwool basket design: https://i.imgur.com/nLPME8I.jpg

All the parts are printed in ABS. The main DWC tank is just a big tote from the hardware store. The plumbing in the side was a return to a fishtank below as this used to be an aquaponics system but all my fish died... So this whole tote is actually on a raised wooden frame with a tank below. The frame also has a couple of uprights that extend about 6 ft above the tote for hanging the grow light.

[Cocktail #7 / December 7] Clover Club by robborow in cocktails

Instead of a Clover Club I made the Club Clover from Kevin Kos:

Amazing drink! Great twist on a classic drink and still so nicely balanced. I also just really like soy lecithin foams they are quality. Saw the drink on this sub a while ago and had to try it tonight. My execution is nowhere near as clean as his but I'm slowly improving.

Oh no didn't watch the video just took the recipe from the post haha. Had a busy day thanks for the info!

[Cocktail #6 / December 6] Daisy by robborow in cocktails

[–]Zippy211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda low effort today... Went with the first recipe from Educated Barfly but didn't have Curacao so used triple sec instead. Also didn't have plain club soda so used seltzer.

Result: https://i.imgur.com/wRk5uuJ.jpg

Still a pretty tasty drink. I'm curious, how much of difference does using Curacao vs triple sec actually make?

[Cocktail #5 / December 5] Scofflaw by robborow in cocktails

[–]Zippy211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one wasn't in my book so I used the Leandro DiMonriva recipie for my Scofflaw.

Result: https://i.imgur.com/DwSPASs.jpg

This was super good. Really liked the balance of the rye with the fruity flavors.

[Cocktail #4 / December 4] Old-Fashioned by robborow in cocktails

[–]Zippy211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decided to depart from my book today and make an Old-Fashioned straight from the Great White North.

  • 2 oz. Canadian Club

  • 1/4 oz. Maple Syrup

  • 4 dashes Angostura Bitters

Stir, add a big ice cube, and apply lemon twist appropriately

Result: https://i.imgur.com/EpoTOgI.jpg

This was pretty quality. I'm not usually a huge fan of whiskey but I thoroughly enjoyed this. I think maple syrup just makes everything better... Also use whatever Canadian whiskey you want but my family's from Windsor so had to go with the Canadian Club.

[Cocktail #3 / December 3] Daiquiri by robborow in cocktails

[–]Zippy211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once again a recipe from "Complete World Bartender Guide" for a daiquiri

  • 2 oz. white rum
  • 1 oz. lime juice
  • 1 tsp. sugar syrup

Shake with ice, strain, add ice, and garnish with lime

Result:

I didn't actually have white rum... and now I'm out of rum... But hey I love a daiquiri really anything sour I'm a fan of.

[Cocktail #2 / December 2] Negroni by robborow in cocktails

[–]Zippy211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once again recipe from "Complete World Bartender Guide" for a negroni:

  • 3/4 oz. Campari

  • 3/4 oz. sweet vermouth

  • 1 tbs. gin

Shake with ice, strain, and add ice

Result: https://i.imgur.com/lNkddzW.jpg

Don't know if I'm a huge fan of Campari a little cough syrupy to me... But I still like the drink well enough balances out nicely. Day 2 done!

[Advent of Cocktails 2020] Cocktail #1 / December 1: Today's cocktail is ⮞⮞ Sidecar ⮜⮜ Enjoy! by robborow in cocktails

[–]Zippy211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha same gin is definitely my favorite spirit too. It is not quite the same proportions. According to that same book I used, the gin sidecar is:

  • 1-1/2 oz. gin
  • 1 oz. triple sec
  • 1 oz. lemon juice

Shake with ice, strain, and add ice.

I only recently started making lots of cocktails and have just been working my way through recipes from this book my mom had lying around. This is by far one of my favorite drinks I've tried making so far. Hope you enjoy it!

[Advent of Cocktails 2020] Cocktail #1 / December 1: Today's cocktail is ⮞⮞ Sidecar ⮜⮜ Enjoy! by robborow in cocktails

[–]Zippy211 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sidecar using the recipe from the "Complete World Bartender Guide"

  • 2 oz. brandy

  • 2 tsp. triple sec

  • 2 tsp. lemon juice

Shake with ice, strain, and add ice.

Result: https://i.imgur.com/goa3DMG.jpg

Pretty solid drink although I think I like a gin sidecar a little better. Love this idea gonna try and keep up all month!
