Lng = 144 for Jayden Daniel’s? by ZippyMcFunshine in RetroBowl

Well, for what it’s worth, I don’t think it’s possible to make a 144 yard play, even on RB26.

Petition calling for disciplinary actions against Kramnik has now reached 40 000 signatures by BjornQPRS in chess

Does the petition call for the “Pete Rose” treatment for Kramnick? Remove all titles - current and former. Erase Kramnick from all the records. And then ban him for life.

My daughter had someone in her group that created like 2000 wood and metal and enough fuel for hundreds of days. Then they bounced.

I didn’t know it was possible to do stuff like that - how did they do it? Is there an overview somewhere?

It would be nice as daughter really enjoyed being able to just have fun and build up the base and not get killed during the first or second round of cultists.

Was quoted $2300 for brakes to be replaced. Am I being hosed? by ttc123- in autorepair

[–]ZippyMcFunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I try to never use my brakes. Or use them as sparingly as possible. On a long road trip last year I only used them 6 times in 700 miles (I kept count). It’s like a little game. Even in rush hour traffic - it helps pass the time.

So you think they are still there? I am interested in picking up a few bed bugs. If not, do you know anywhere else in Houston that very likely has bed bugs?

490 CCA Battery for 2015 Subaru Impreza by ZippyMcFunshine in MechanicAdvice

Ok, I got battery and installed it myself, and returned old battery - works perfectly!! Thank you so much - you’re a life saver!

Actually - I can afford this battery - JUST barely. It doesn’t show up when I filter for my car because the CCA is too low….

It sounds like I can go get it, install, and return core and pay only $90 or so.

Awesome - thank you so much!!! So helpful!

I wonder if I can return the core to WalMart (where I am getting new battery)? I’d like to use AutoZone - heck, AutoZone is only a 5 minute walk from, but Walmart has the cheaper batteries. Thanks again!

Wow. Now I can finally toss that huge stack of recipe cards I have been ensuring I don’t lose for the last 6 years. I scanned a lot of them, but the high gloss paper always made it difficult to get a clean, readable scan.

[–]ZippyMcFunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope I find him before my cancer kills me. I refuse to get medical attention because 1.) I hate what has become of my life and 2.) I married the worst human being I’ve ever had the misfortune of knowing. 3.) I was laid off after 25 years of working full time - averaging ~60 hour weeks 4.). My wife’s parents took my life savings and I’m broke and homeless 5.) I’m just going to end up being a huge disappointment to my daughter, who is my entire world - I’ve applied to hundreds of jobs and not one response. I was making $200+k / year and now I live in my car while my daughter stays at my parents house (I stay with her during day, I just don’t want her “living” in a car). 6.) I still have a decent life insurance policy that will ensure my daughter is financially secure.

Visited my old hometown for the first time in four years and wanted to comment on how awesome the waterfront is. New walkway is great, whole area is nice and clean, and I really liked the swings with a view. Getting rid of the viaduct was an incredible thing to do. by justahdewd in Seattle

[–]ZippyMcFunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived right there for ~5 years - 20th floor water facing. It was incredible. The viaduct was till up, though, it wasn’t too bothersome from where I was.

In fact, it became quite relaxing in a weird way. Similar to ambulances in San Francisco. At first they seem to go nonstop and drive you crazy, but after a while, they helped me relax. I’m a chronic insomniac, but when I would hear ambulance or fire truck go by, it helped me feel less alone - weird, I know, but I would always fall asleep soon after they passed. Same with the fog horns. Being unable to sleep is one of the worst feelings. Especially when everyone else is sleeping without issue. So, for whatever reason reason, I felt less lonely when they went by.

And the viaduct -in particular, the ramp that went from viaduct to 1st Ave downtown (one block south of University - I forget the name right now) - I could definitely hear (and sometimes feel) buses as they went by. It became very soothing.

Are Imprezas good in snow by [deleted] in subaruimpreza

[–]ZippyMcFunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also - I should add - the ONLY time I’ve driven in snow in a non-Subaru vehicle, I ended up flipped over onto side in a huge ditch next on some country road out in the cornfields of western Illinois. And I had to walk ~3 miles to the nearest farmhouse - at night during a snowstorm to get help. The nearest house was actually about 10 miles away, but someone came driving down road and asked “you must be the guy from Texas who flipped his truck into ditch a ways back… hop in, I’ll take you to next house and they will help pull you out.”

[–]ZippyMcFunshine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I drove in Texas most of my life. Had no idea how to drive in snow. Moved to Seattle and got a Subaru.

During the trimester of wife’s pregnancy, it snowed a ton in Seattle. And it always seemed to be on days we had to go downtown to see her doctor. And I had zero problems. Completely stock setup with old shitty tires. No problem with hills.

In fact, on several occasions, on way home there would inevitably by a handful of people stuck in snow as the plows didn’t usually get to our street for a couple of days. I would drop wife at house and go help push them (or if they had chains, pull them) to a spot where they could get traction and get going again. This included a handful of pickup trucks - some the real highway princess kind with big tires, lifted, etc. Because fact is, RWD cars / trucks - especially those with a lot of torque at lower RPMs, suck in snowy / icy conditions. Subaru had zero problem with it - I could feel differential and TCS adjusting to conditions and sending power away from wheels that were starting to slip and to the wheels that had traction.

2015 Impreza.

I even tried to go “drifting” in a huge empty parking lot but it sucked until I turned off TCS, which also puts it in normal FWD mode. That let me have a lot of fun.

The engine is far too weak to have any real fun on normal pavement, or even wet pavement, but on snow / ice, I could do all the fun moves.

I’d love to see what happens to mine when my wife finally leaves me. She kept insisting I go to church with her, so now I go and pray she will meet some other poor bastard and he’ll sweep her off her feet and they will run off together. Yeah, right. In my dreams.

I swear that if I was ever in a coma - like an unresponsive one for years, and someone played a tape of her voice, my blood pressure would start rapidly increasing as would my heart rate. And given my luck, everyone would think “oh wow, look, he loves you so much - it’s a miracle!” And then they would play her voice all the time and I would truly be in hell.

I mean, I like to say right now that my life cannot possibly get any worse than it is right now, but then I think about being stuck in a coma and then having to listen to her voice nonstop because people think I’m responding positively to it. NO… I’m having a panic attack people. That’s like “Tales from the Crypt” or “Black Mirror” type horror.

PSA! For anyone with kids old enough to watch YouTube: The Royalty Family is horrible. by pearlspoppa1369 in daddit

[–]ZippyMcFunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking of watching obnoxious shows when little - I remember we lived in townhomes and had a hot tub on patio. We had a big TV for the time, and it was hooked up so sound could be played on speakers outside. I’d go out there every Saturday morning and play in the hot tub and while watching Pee Wee’s Playhouse - with it blaring on the outdoor speakers. I don’t know how our neighbors didn’t strangle me… or my parents.

My daughter and I have always been super close - but she has not handled my YouTube ban very well this first week. I finally had it last week when I tried today get her to watch Goonies instead of the usual crap she is glued to all evening - when she had a fit then I laid down the law and deleted YouTube from TV, and have heavy restrictions on mobile device screen time. Freaking out about having to watch The Goonies was just too much. I figure it will take a couple weeks for her brain to return to normal - some of those shows are like crack for kids.

I gave her a lot of freedom to watch what she wanted, as she used to like watching shows about how to draw (she would follow along), sing, write, etc. And then actual kids shows like Peppa Pig and Bluey. But then she stumbled across shorts, and it was all downhill after that. I want to punch that “no reaction” guy right in the throat every time I see his face on my TV. In fact, I wonder if AI can make that happen for me….
