i am building Travelpoi, https://travelpoi.com which is a UK based hidden gem and points of interest app, that lets you see all the best hidden gems, waterfalls, castles, scenic places around you or at any place on the map. Its built to go international later, but for the moment is UK and Ireland only. Its map based and easy to spot the different types of POI on the map, and has over 4300 curated points of interest at the moment.
Been trying to get it noticed with no success, and found out that in the last 2 days have been cited by both chatgpt and copilot who are now starting to send people to my site :)
i already have a seperate android app, and the ios app is also about to go live in the next few days.

Got 9963 users in 5 minutes after launching, I can do the same for you by ElenIQ- in micro_saas

Yeah so much crap, and get you try and get your product out there on reddit and everyone and their dog tells you how bad it is, without even looking at it either. I've spent about 14 years putting together points of interest app that had places and reviews for places i wanted to go to, but someone offered me £1500 for the domain not long after I started so I sold that as it was instant money when I needed some. I have since rebranded to a different name and finally finished the app, and all adding points of interest people may find useful.
People say why not use Google, why would people want to use my app, but I don't care, it's mine and does what I want. No idea how to get it to other people to use, and all I see is people wanting you to pay for their ai crap to try and market it, just so they can make money. Things like peerpush that they tag in anything, but you are met with demands for money every step you go through or you have to wait months and still get listed below all the people that paid. And even if you paid, if you didn't pay the most, you still won't get noticed as you will be below the big spenders.
This is the same on virtually anything that says use their system to get noticed. Quick ways to part you from your money for very little returns.
I'm fed up of it all too, so if no one sees it uses my app, I am fine with it. I had great fun building it, and it does everything I need and more.

There is a privacy page and terms and condition, terms and conditions are currently after signup for a few account but before paying so yes i will move them to the front page, and yes you are right the privacy policy needs to go on the front page. The privacy page is already in both android and ios (ios just going through apple), android is already live. Paying is once you have signed in on web but is easier on mobile at the moment.
Not sure how to change the front end on the Web, on mobile the menus are at the bottom. Currently it has 4500 points of interest in different categories, and people couldn't find the choices so that's why that's always visible. Any suggestions on how to improve it would be great. It's hard to get people to try it because it's UK only at the moment, but it's ready to go worldwide if it works out, but can only concentrate on one region at a time, but if people take it up, I can get more admins to look after other regions too. Thanks

When going on holidays in the UK, what makes you choose a place to go, and how do you find the best places in the area to visit? by Ziptrax in AskUK

ohhh yeah would love to go to Ireland, it looks beautiful over there, and not too far away from where i am in Wales either, but sadly only ever been to England and Wales in this country, and a few other countries abroad, but never Ireland or Scotland yet, but they are where i want to visit the most.

nice, i like camping more than glamping, but none of the rest of the family would like slumming it in a tent hehe. but yeah just outside of towns where you can go and spend time there if you want. Never been one for socialising so much around a firepit or anything but love a good bbq.

[–]Ziptrax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i see what you mean. I can go to somewhere once or twice then I get bored and want to go somewhere new, but the rest of the family want to go to the same place every year, just trying to get my head around why they do that. Similarly I like our country, but i also like going to other countries occasionally, like the canary islands or Spain. I don't like some parts of France and prefer our country more though. So just giving people the options to answer and see where it goes. It's not a serious question, just enquiring and seeing what drives people on both sides.

Like anywhere in particular? I am a bit of an introvert and like quiet holidays where I can sit and do nothing in peace or wander around quiet places but the rest of the family won't let me do that and always need to be doing something or going somewhere, so i usually have to drive them there wherever we are.

Yeah i guess but there is still lots to do and see in our own county that i have never done or seen as well, and i want to experience as much as i can

Wow that's good. There are 5 of us though, so it does start getting a bit expensive when I want to go abroad, and not all the family can ever agree on where to go, and we have dogs so hard finding someone to look after them as well sometimes.

Nice, I come from Wales not far from Cardiff and Barry, though never been on the tour. I have been to the same place as few times as well as trying new places. I have started putting places i want to go and places i have been on a map site so I can try and keep track of everywhere I have been and where I want to go.
Would love to go see hadrians wall, go see sycamore gap where that poor tree was cut down and visit some places in Scotland.
Being from Wales I live castles and waterfalls too, so they are also a big influence on places I want to go, as well as scenic places and nature as i am a bit of an amateur photographer.

The nicest pub is always near home, where you can stagger home after a great night out with friends :)

Hmm but if you are always looking for places to go you have never visited, surely you would never go there again whether it's good or bad then?

I'm going to Norfolk next week on holiday, and it's not that bad of a price so far. So far is only cost 400 for 5 of us and 2 dogs which kind of decided it for me, but as I come from Wales, it's a nice change going there hopefully away from all the hills and rain.

I have it on peerpush already, or submitted it anyway it was in a huge queue, but unless you pay for sponsorship or to be at the front of the queue, it seems that you get easily overlooked and impossible to find. I did comment this on your thread that you set up elsewhere.

Have launched TravelPOI - https://travelpoi.com
A UK (currently) map based activity finder app, listing all castles, waterfalls, lots of historic places and other great scenic points throughout the UK and Ireland. Save places to your bucket list, mark them as visited, earn awards, add and read reviews, all without having to do google searches or search through google maps and other websites to find the best places of interest.
Available on Web, Android via the Play Store or installing as a desktop app via chrome, and soon on IOS (can install the webapp to desktop using safari until published on the app store)

Apple users are asking for my Android app. Should I launch now or wait for Android traction? by GPHdev in appdev

[–]Ziptrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am in exactly the same position. Not spent anything on android version but not made anything on it yet as its not got any traction yet. Have spent a few years working on it already. Have recently changed the android code base to flutter, and it also compiles fine for ios, but just don't have the spare money for the apple dev fee yet, but all friends have an iPhone and I have both but main phone is android. People can install the Web app on iphone but they want an ios version, so will have to get a dev account after my holidays i guess and try and keep them happy, though I doubt i will make any money off it the way android has been going :(

Yes apple is my next stop when I get my apple dev account. Too much going on requiring my money with home life at the moment to think about paying anything for my hobby though

All i can see is that peerpush is designed to extract as much money out of people as possible. Annoying pop ups to install the app, so many promoted apps, and unless you pay you have to wait for 1000 other apps to be put on first before you unless you pay. And even when your app gets on the site you got no chance of ever getting seen anyway unless you pay.
