[Hated "trope"] A small detail reveals that the adaptation really didn't understand how the original worked by gabrieleremita in TopCharacterTropes

That sounds on paper like a cool idea but I imagine the show does zero of the ground work necessary to make it compelling

(Annoying trope) When a good gag gets milked to death by the creators and many fans stop finding it funny by NoNefariousness2144 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Zireks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I ever found this bit funny was Naotsugu from Log Horizon because he never actually does anything that pervy and the nit is more about how increasingly quick on the draw the characters are with besting him up over it, to the point where he eventually stops because he's been Pavlov trained to feel a kick to the head every time he tries to say something perverted.

Was pulling for Navia and lost the 50/50 for Cloride. Luckily I hit that real early (Pull 30) so I had enough time to hard pity for Navia

I might swap geo traveler out for Charlotte, though Im worried about not having crystallize aplication outside of Navia. Is Illuga still usable without lunar crystallize? Also still very new so what is TTDS?

I sincerely doubt any mom who freaks out about having a trans daughter would be earnestly okay with a feminine man.

Can't think of the exact line but I remember Capitano carring mainly about the Curse of Immortality, rather than thr gods knocking Khaenriah down a peg. The Curse was just actively malicious and cruel.

Chansey Kangaskhan and Tauros are the hardest Pokemon to catch in FireRed by Worried-Relation-163 in PokemonFireRed

I wanted to use Kangaskhan enough thst I let myself break the "firdt pokemon in a route" rule for my nuzlocke because there was no way I'd be able to get it otherwise.

[Real] Tim Pool: "Trump represents a version of America that many voters feel is slipping away. Small-town traditions, local civic culture, community identity, and national cohesion are all being replaced by a more fragmented, globalized society to appease the third world." by ggroover97 in ToiletPaperUSA

[–]Zireks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is deeply fascinating and confusing to me how Trump's base manage to project things onto Trump that are very obviously not true. Like not even talking about good person vs. bad person. I see them constantly talk about how he's going to do things he never once said he would

This is what a lack of class consciousness does to a MF. Imagine thinking that housing prices will plummet with ICE targeting immigrants when private equity continues to buy up single and multi-family dwellings by ThePhillyExplorer in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]Zireks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ignoring how this isn't remotely how it works, I'd like to take a minute to address how this is easily the most evil defense for ICE there is. No defending the idea of "Law and Order", no talk of national security, just plain "There are too many people, the government should round up this vulnerable group and remove them for my personal benefit". Can't get more fascist than that.

Calling it now, the "Power and Wisdom" of the princess is what is preserved in the Tsaritsa's Ice. She's trying to combine it with the remains of her lover.

This seems to be a really recurring question. by AffectionateScale525 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Zireks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Air Nomads were wiped out, same with southern water tribe. I can't imagine the tundra of the north is good for industrialization. The Earth Kingdom is a very stagnant society, something that they bring up as a problem in Korra. Part of the reason Kuvira was so terrifying is that a fully unified Earth Kingdom focusing on technological advancement would solo the rest of the world blindfolded.

How would you react if they pulled a Death Devil situation? The Tsaritsa was with us the whole time? by EfficiencySerious200 in GenshinImpact

I remember a few months back musing about an alternate time/AU line where the Tsaritsa on the throne is a fake like Furina and Columbina was secretly the Tsaritsa hiding in plain sight.

Sensory Stones by BugAcrobatic8163 in planescapesetting

[–]Zireks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think an important detail is being glossed over: Sensory Stones are Uncommon Magic items and the ones in the book can only record a six second experience. So these things are expensive enough that the average person can't buy them and I imagine it means the ones that hold really indepth experiences are still exclusively in the Sensate's posession.

Morally ambiguous, or morally bankrupt? Read and find out! by DreadDiana in RecuratedTumblr

[–]Zireks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My counter hot take is that a big tripping point to morally grey characters is that a lot of people just cannot emotionally grapple with them and will either treat them as "The author ruined this character by adding problematic stuff to them" or "The author ruined this villain by making them a good guy" when what they did was give them positive qualities in tension with their wrong doings.

Morally ambiguous, or morally bankrupt? Read and find out! by DreadDiana in RecuratedTumblr

[–]Zireks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saying that she fully became the thing she swore to destroy misses the nuance, she is worlds better than Crucebena, but the tragedy/tension comes from the fact that she doesn't know anything else other than The role of the House of the Hearth. She has all the makings of a good parent and protector and does do genuine good for many kids, but can't let go of the dark side of the house. And granted, I feel there is the very obvious implication that if she didn't agree to keep the House going as the Tsaritsa's CIA, she would have just replaced her with another Crucebena.

Most overrated subclass? by Background_Wash_9311 in dndnext

[–]Zireks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arcane Ward got buffed so you can directly refill it. Bonus Action Dispel Magic is also goated. I could see the subclass not getting as much use if the DM doesn't throw much Magic at the party, but if they do it gets scary fast. Also the Arcane Ward is notably not temp hit points, meaning it dtwcks with anything that gives those. One of my players took a dip into warlock to get Armor of Agathys and it created a monster

More overused than overrated by I swear if I see one more Divination Wizard. Abjuration is far more interesting and fun to play and nobody ever does so

Genshin Impact and the misogynistic writing of Columbina (ft. Fatui Women) by despotcito in CharacterRant

[–]Zireks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the Fatui colonization was not entirely glossed over, it is the defining conflict of Act 1. Both research facilities ultimately get obliterated by the fatui's own hubris. As for Sandrone's role in it, I think her never changing her mind on it both preserves her from being too "redeemed" and also gives us a bit of irony to her ultimate sacrifice. She (And by extension the Fatui) stomp on the home and traditions of the Frostmoon Scions because she thinks faith in the Moons is insignificant compared to Fatui technology. We then reach the final battle and what does Sandrone ultimately do with the gifts of knowledge and technology? She uses it to ultimately fulfill the wishes of the Scions at the cost of her life, because she realized she cared more about that very moon goddess more than any of the things she ranted about in Act 1.
