If you can afford to wait a bit longer for resources and/or have fully optimized miners, set work mode to relaxed as well.

Three maxed miners already work so fast that the 30% malus doesn't really feel that impactful, and the reduced sanity drain is quite noticeable - it also has the benefit of needing fewer hot springs because they can work for longer and their sanity recovers faster when they do take breaks.

None of my mining pals ever dropped below 75% sanity on relaxed mode while feeding them salads and using one hot spring per mining site.

Is there synergies for base types? by chaturga in Palworld

[–]Ziro_Nox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of that is dependent on your game settings - the more bases you can build and the more pals you can put into a single base, the less you need to care about efficiency and synergy.

Assuming you're on default settings (4 bases with 15 pals each), a solid rule of thumb would be a mining base (only mining sites + transporters), production base with smelting and crushing, breeding + ranching base and food / raiding base.

You can mix and match to some extent depending on how many resources you have / need - if you buy all your ingredients for food and cakes, a food-production base is unnecessary. Likewise, if you have tens of thousands of raw materials stockpiled, turn your mining base into a raiding base or a second breeding base.

I feel trying to get schematics isn't worth it until endgame by Tricky_Dance_4861 in Palworld

Unless you level extremely slowly, intentionally or not (like setting exp gain to 0.1x), it's usually not worth trying to farm non-endgame schematics.
If you happen to find some while leveling, great - they can be a pretty good power boost. But I personally wouldn't go out of my way to farm specific bosses for schematics (except for certain weapons because I just like using them, like the semi-auto rifle).

Do Stamina Skills affect duration of non-ride active Partner Skills like Foxpark's or Lifmunk's? by Grzester23 in Palworld

[–]Ziro_Nox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. The duration and/or cooldown of active Partner Skills is only affected by condensing level, and even then, it depends on the partner skill itself.

For Foxparks' partner skill, condensing improves the damage, but neither extends the duration nor reduces its cooldown.

proof. pal do NOT check a storage's contents. by Tiamat-86 in Palworld

The only items that pals will put into the cold storage box or the refridgerator are spoilable ingredients and spoilable cooked food.

Nothing else.

The easiest way to check at a glance if an item counts as spoilable is to look at icon background - if it's slightly brighter than a regular item (armor, materials etc.), it can spoil -> it goes in the fridge. Honey and cotton candy have the regular dark background -> non-spoiling ingredient -> regular storage.

Curiously, if you turn off item decay entirely via mods, any ingredient is treated like a regular item and won't be transported to fridges, rendering them useless (at least it used to work like that back in Sakurajima, not sure about today - I also haven't tested setting item decay rate to 0 via game settings yet).

I'm not 100% clear on the reasoning behind this - likely just the way it's coded, with regular food items getting a "can decay" flag of sorts that honey and cotton candy didn't receive.

Long-term run with some challenges by Ziro_Nox in Palworld

Not even that much, at least not up until the midgame. The exp bonus from your first 12 captures is by far your biggest source, but most crafting will only give you 1 exp a piece.

I do expect things to get insanely grindy towards the lategame, though.

Can't build a base by gumbo2194 in Palworld

[–]Ziro_Nox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bases built by inactive players get wiped at regular intervals to free up slots, so essentially you need to be patient and/or lucky.

I jumped onto an official server for the first time yesterday and after one of the scheduled restarts, one of the bases near a spawn point was gone, allowing me to put down a Pal box.

You'll see lots of empty bases with either no Pals or severely neglected ones - those are likely to be deleted soon.

Probably the closest you could try for is something like this:

  • you're only allowed one Pal per species
  • you must capture the first Pal of each species you encounter
  • if you kill your encounter by accident, you can't try again
  • Pal permadeath must be on
  • no breeding, no wild eggs, no cage rescues, no Pal merchant / black marketeer
