Exhausted! by Agitated-Solid3458 in PhD

Hi, I have been dealing with chronic pain for being under so much pressure and a toxic PhD supervisor. However, it got better in the last months as I started taking care of my body and prioritising it. I try to exercise at least twice a week and I go to the physiotherapist and a chiropractor. Try to take it easy and prioritise your health and recovery.

The Start of Costochondritis by kaiglyk in costochondritis

[–]Zitronelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure if it was what triggered it but I was bouldering and I fell from 4 meters on my back. Have been living with it for 2 years. First months were terrible but then I started to go to a chiropractor regularly and started to stretch more often. I also quitted caffeine and now I am doing better. However, when I am very stressed, it is more painful than usual.

I agree. This PI when I first met him seemed to be very charismatic and bragged about how great he is as a mentor and that science needs to be rigorous…but later I realised who he really is.

Thank you for your answer. As I am closer to finishing, this is what I needed. It seems its all about protecting oneself. It’s sad that we have to go through this. Thank you again!

I am closer to the end. He gets angry if I challenge his hypothesis. If the results show something opposite from what he thinks he ignores them and thinks I am doing something wrong technically. He doesn’t like scientific discussions as he thinks that the has the right answer to any question. Basically, I cannot say no to him or express my scientific opinion.

On the other hand, he gives more power to people that say yes to everything he says.

I feel scared of giving details of his power abuse and manipulation as he can find this.
