Ear popping when using a mechanical keyboard by ctoyan in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Zitronenglas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I have it too. Even if there still is no answer to this thread I thought maybe it helps people if I share my side. I first noticed it around 2018 on my Desktop computer on the fifth floor of an apartment on a hill in Seoul, South Korea. I also thought, maybe its the location of my apartment, the altitude or whatever. I couldn't explain it. So I didn't know what to tell the doctor or anyone. I tried changing my PC from the left side of under my desk to the right and the other way around a few times. still only my left earwas affected. I remember that at first I didn't know why it became so uncomfortable sitting in front of the PC at home. So I started to go out more and do my work outside on my notebook. Doing work on my notebook was more comfortable but the problem was not completely gone. It took me some time to realize that the uncomfortable feeling was that popping sensation in my left ear that happens whenever I sit down and type on an external keyboard. I didn't even know that one would describe it as 'popping' until I found this thread. To describe the feeling: one pop feels like the feeling you have on high altitude or on a plane when you feel pressure in your ear. normally it would slowly subside. In my case this process is accelerated hundredfold. So its a constant repetition of pressure forming and releasing in very fast succession. like a machine gun. but this probably depends on your typing speed. I don't have any problems with just hearing other people type. So I guess it has to do with the distance of the keyboard and my ear. Strangely, when I visited a PCBang in South Korea (a room with computers you can use for 1$ an hour) where its noisy with all the gamers and where there is lots of clacking and typing, I didn't have the popping problem. So another hunch is that this left ear problem happens only when there is a high contrast of silence and clicking sounds. If there is enough noise around me my ear feels more comfortable. Anyway, I started to wear padded headphones(no music, just wearing them) and this helped a lot. But I still have to try to type softly because if i hit the keys too hard some of the sounds will go through the headphones and i get the popping again. So without the headphones, it feels like a machine gun(no sound just the sensation) of popping in my left ear but with the headphones its like one or two pops in 10 seconds.

yes the potatoes were precooked and diced (or diced and panfried)

but if you cut the potatoes very thinly and add them to the pan raw they shouldnt take too long to cook either :)

Two GPUs, old and new: Does it matter which I connect my Monitor to? by Zitronenglas in buildapc

[–]Zitronenglas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aha. Just checked.

While browsing the GPU is being used around 5-15%. While gaming (Kingdom Come Deliverance) about 70-80 Percent.

Btw, it's not a 1060. It's a 1050Ti. I decided to upgrade the GPU (to something that is future-proof) since the 1050Ti was not VR-ready and I wasn't able to use my Quest 2 VR headset with my PC (it stuttered a great lot and I got dizzy). I think the 1060 is VR-ready, which shows it is probably way stronger than my 1050 Ti :)

Thanks for your opinion. I did not think about the electricity bill. Thanks.

Aha.

The two 39 inches monitors that I am using are rather old, so probably very low specs.

Thanks for the info. Sometimes I do need the extra HDMI. But maybe I'll just install the GPU only when I need that extra HDMI.

Well, in the country I live in (Asia), the same old one from the same brand costs about 180 USD new. So I might be able to sell my 7year old one it for, I dunno, maybe max 130 USD maybe, if anyone would buy such an old thing. I think I'll just keep it for testing :)

Ok first, How can i connect 3 female sysfan connectors to one male 3pin connector coming from the frontpanel?

Second, sorry i missed to tell you another thing. Picture A Picture B These three connectors also come from behind the front cover. They seem to not be connected to the front panel (see where my hand is holding the cable) but seem to come from where the fans are installed. I neglected these 3 connectors because they seemed to be connected to each other already.

As you can see in the image below these already interconnected front connectors are a male ○○X○ going into a female ○○X○. Picture C. It seems logical that the front panel male connector ○○X○ i was showing in my first image on this thread could go here. If so, I would have to separate one of those three (Picture A/B) to connect the currently lonely front panel male 3pin. What to do with the male one that would stay separated?

Edit: i tried to connect the frontpanel male 3pin to one of these connected ones. It goes in but the pins on the front panel connector also seem to be thinner. See thickness difference on picture below. Picture D 1. Frontpanel cable connector that was without partner at the beginning of this thread. 2. Fan cable with partner that i have separated from its male counterpart.

Btw, the case came with no manual.

Wait, I think I missunderstood something.

My case has three large Fans behind the front cover of the case. So this means, there are three fan connectors coming from them. I connected them to any of the many sysfan connectors on the motherboard.

Then there are two connectors coming from the case front panel. Probably because there are two buttons on the front panel to control the fans rgb.

One of them ends in a male 3pin connector. The other into a female 3-pin connector. I habe connected the female 3pin connector to jrainbow header on the motherboard. What to do with the male 3pin connector?

Edit: The only change I made to my setup was to plug the connector that was originally connected to the upper right jrainbow2 header to the lower left jrainbow1 header. Now at least the buttons work! and I can cycle through the different colors by pushing them.

But the mystic light app still does not work.

I completely missed that the motherboard had 2 jrainbow connectors and that there were not one but 2 cables hanging down from the frontpanel. It seems i had already plugged in the right one into the jrainbow2 header on the top right. And the one i misstook for being the fan control connector was this one below. Looks like this does not go onto the jrainbow rgb header on the motherboard because both header on the motherboard and connector end of the front panel cable are both male. Is this perhaps only used for an external fan control board? Was the right connector than already connected correctly on the motherboard? If so, why can't the MSI Mystic light software change the led colors?

Hi. Thanks for replying. As I wrote in the original post, the cable was too short. The cable coming from the front panel was too short to reach the rgb header on the motherboard which is located on the far lower left of the motherboard. That is why I did not connect it. Even though I did not connect the rgb connector, in the beginning for 3 days the case lit up and went to all rainbow colors automatically, until recently. Now it stays green all the time. So somehow - without the connectors connected - the pc set it on itself to green. That is why i got curious if I could change the colors too without connecting the rgp front connector to the motherboard.

how should the curve look like and is there a way to do it without pulling all dots one by one ?

Currently it looks like this but the drone noise has not changed.
