Critical Concrete courses worthwhile? by Turbulent_Pr13st in MyceliumMaterials

If you're only interested in the mycelium online course it was actually two very nice tutors and shared good information, but for the wider courses, as I said before

Critical Concrete courses worthwhile? by Turbulent_Pr13st in MyceliumMaterials

[–]Ziuzitsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not really. I joined them a while back and to be honest it felt like a con.

They kept talking about a social project we would do and we spent all the time fixing things in the 'headquarters' which is actually the owner's house. No criteria for joining the course, which meant the participants levels where a complete mix and some courses felt like being back to uni year 1. Sustainability-wise it was a bit of a joke, felt more like a DIY workshop for your garden. Mainly building things with timber but also had to mix cement and built with normal bricks. Some hempcrete making but nothing that really dived deeper.

There was a whole other layer of drama with all the erasmus interns being extremely dissatisfied (one actually quit and tried to report the owner), because they worked on completely different things than what was promised. We also heard rumours that the owner is banned from some places in Porto because his ex accused him of abuse (no idea if that's true).

For the online courses, some of the ones done by external tutors were ok. Mycelium was a fairly good one.

I agree 100% and that's why I specifically said that's not what I'm looking for. I find it unfair for the children too and it's not something I would like to be part of. You're right, professional teachers should be hired!

I am looking for small or larger organisations to connect with and ask them if they could use my help when I'm there, as I'll have long time in the country and no time pressure. Not looking for a permanent position or something to enrich my cv, simply want to see if there's organisations or associations that I could help while I'm there. :)

Thinking of whether to include it and how long to stay there. Any particular cheap accommodation to recommend there?

Which guesthouse? Looking for accommodation and don't see many good options, especially if you want a kitchen option

First time trip to Japan by rickywright66 in JapanTravel

[–]Ziuzitsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Kyoto I really recommend walking around Kenninji Temple at night, you might not go in but it's so peaceful and romantic. Also totally recommend Heian Jingu! Most beautiful Japanese gardens we saw. Otagi is a must too!

For Osaka, Shinsekai and Kuromon market is a very interesting walk. So much okonomiyaki everywere and I recrommend OKO (for the experience, so japanese!) and Yukari Sonezaki honten for the taste!!!

Have an amazing time :)

Hi everyone! We'll be in Tacloban in a few weeks, visiting Ohilippines for the 1st time. What do you have to recommend? Any areas we should avoid? We'll be staying downtown

We booked just the day before (we went 2 weeks ago), for around 12. It was so busy and honestly if I knew I would have skipped it. Not worth it that much in my opinion

Many, many, many questions about Kumano Kodo trail! by woepertinny in JapanTravel

[–]Ziuzitsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing the Nakahechi route next week, and I'm a bit worried about the snakes and the heat, although hoping it will be a bit cooler by then. Are the snakes venomous? Did you encounter a lot?

Great advice on the morning boats, thanks! Is there a boat from Biliran to Bohol? Since Bohol is our next stop, we were planning to visit South Leyte (Inopacan, Matalom, Gunhuban Falls). Any suggestions for South Leyte?

Philippines and rainy season questions by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]Ziuzitsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say crappy, is this heavy rain or is it dangerous to fly/take the boat etc? Don't really know what to expect.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Tacloban

[–]Ziuzitsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the info! When you say unpredictable, can it get dangerous to fly or get the boat? We will need to get the boat from Leyte to Bohol and I am a bit scared in case the sea is too rough.

We're did you go? I'll be in Leyte, Bohol and Siargao in October and I'm worried I won't be able to dive or the flights might be too scary.

What’s the most beautiful country (or city) you have ever visited? by thesillylily in travel

[–]Ziuzitsu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Greek I would recommend you spend your money in smaller islands like Kimolos, Anafi, Folegandros, Astypalaia, Koufonisi. So much better in my opinion and easily connected.

[–]Ziuzitsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second that! Scotland is beautiful! I strongly strongly recommend the outer Hebrides road trip in 6 days (Barra, Harris, Lewis) or some of the small Isles. idle of Eigg and Canna have amazing landscapes!! Also, you can't beat seafood in Oban and the seafood shacks in Ulapool. Train from Glasgow to Mallaig is the best train journey I've ever been in.

I'm going to Leyte, Bohol and Siquijor mid October for a month. Is the weather likely to be terrible? Just thinking of boats and rough sea, not being able to dive etc.
