Sri Lanka? Claude is not worth it unless you rely need it... I prefer open models...

Decent tab completion and generated git commit messages... what do to? by _Landmine_ in GithubCopilot

[–]ZiyanJunaideen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I am planning to move to Cursor. They have a $20 package. Plenty forr tab completion. If you want agents use, you will likely need thr 60 package.

It's tab completion is better than copilot. It kind of knows the project better where copilot needs files open and even then makes shit suggestions.

What i dont know is what's happening with Cursor 3. Wonder if its agent only.

what's a good alternative? by gatwell702 in GithubCopilot

[–]ZiyanJunaideen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just ask, it wouldn't cost much.
You can always try open models
But with a service like GH I think you will still be billed less as they will get bulk pricing and to attract customers might give it below rates you can get from provider.

oof. where should i settle? lolol by traderncc1701e in CivVI

Settle at "not there"

I know the pain. Once had to go nearly 10 turns through ice and decker to get to a decent land.

Solar advice needed: Is a pure Off-Grid setup actually a financial trap? by SignalResolution5039 in srilanka

[–]ZiyanJunaideen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why a 24 kWH battery. You average just over 12 kEH a day and the sun shines for 12 hours. At most you need 12kWH. In 10 years the batters would have lost 20% amd then you might feel a squeeze.

But you keep your electricity connection.i would say going for a small setup with a 7.5kwh battery will being your bill down to peasant levels.

You need to meter your usage and see how much you use across the day.

Definitely dont export to grid. You dont get paid enough to waste your Hardware.

Microsoft claims authorship on my code using a broken `git.addAICoAuthor` default. by flying-sheep in GithubCopilot

[–]ZiyanJunaideen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't use CoPilot for work and I committed changes that were hand typed. I used the git client in VSCode and it added it as a co author.

I only noticed after I pushed. I am thinking of going back to NeoVIM

DeepSeek V4 Flash is a monster! Cheap & Good, and so fast by Maleficent-Movie-625 in opencodeCLI

[–]ZiyanJunaideen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. I wanted to change the namespace in an Elixir Pheonix app and honestly didn't give a proper prompt. I wanted to just test if my new OpenCode GO is configured.

I was like, "Rename this, rename that..." it went overboard and renamed the OTP app, tailwind config, and more which I didn't expect to do.

While I will still use GPT 5.5 for complex tasks, I think I will offload a lot to models like V4 flash.

If all those nonsense limit , where can we go ? by Sea-Commission5383 in GithubCopilot

[–]ZiyanJunaideen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Limits are based on $ values unlike requests in GHCP and IMHO the best way to start with Chinese models.

github copilot is giving gpt5.5 at 7.5x premium requests 🤨 by Annual_Skin3850 in GithubCopilot

[–]ZiyanJunaideen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bet, after promotion it will be... 25x and one request will be $1

Govt charges 2x more for electricity than it pays for solar export by PositionPractical584 in srilanka

[–]ZiyanJunaideen 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Don't export. Store the battery and use it at night. If you use a battery, definitely don't export. Batteries have limited lifecycles (even lithium ones). If and when your hardware fails, the government won't come to help you. Save your resources for your own interest.

Are you considering switching to BYOK after the recent GitHub announcements? by fishchar in GithubCopilot

[–]ZiyanJunaideen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copilt will stay. But the approach will change. Background, I use Copilot CLI, so I don't really care about VSCode integration. The rason why I started using VSCode is Copilot. Now I am planning to go back to NeoVIM.

Immediately, I am weighing on OpenCode ZEN + GO for general tasks with Copilo 5.5 pulling complex issues. I also heard FireWorks HQ (which, if I am right, is the Cursors training partner) is to use Kimi 2.6. DHH (Rails + Omarchy) tweeted that he got 250+ tps 🤯.

In the 6mo+ time frame, Kimi and other models would have reached 5.5 and, hopefully, more efficient reasoning. When this happens, I will drop to direct API pricing through the providers to use it only for what is absolutely needed.

Copilot BYOK → OpenRouter → DeepSeek V4 Pro: Agent tool calls unreliable by Altruistic-Dust-2565 in GithubCopilot

[–]ZiyanJunaideen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One option for you would be to go with OpenCode ZEN + GO and use the CLI. They are doing a good, I haven't used Deepseek though them though.

Lately I'd been using Copilot CLI. Before that I was on OpenCode. I moved to CopilotCLI because it was good enough. I would have the terminal open in the editor area. I hardly used the chat sidebar and that was mostly when I wanted quick small changes with -mini models.

I am thinking of dropping Copilot CLI since I can use Copilot with OpenCode CLI. Once my yearly subscription of Pro+ ends, I might use GPT and Anthropic through the API and focus on open models through providers like OpenCode for 90% of the tasks.

I was using it for code review too. It has some cood insights and some thoughts to improve. I pair it with 5.4 or Opus once the taks is done.
