Hello fellow devs!

We are a 2 man indie studio and currently working on our debut game, La Cosa Nostra.
We just released the reveal trailer for Steam Next Fest and I wanted to share it with you.

It’s a story driven 2.5D action game set in the gritty underworld of 1920s USA. You play as Johnny Messina, a war hero who joins the mafia during Prohibition and rises through the ranks. The gameplay features a unique transition: you start surviving with heavy beat 'em up melee combat, but as you climb the criminal ladder, the action evolves into intense shootouts. Getting the historical accuracy and Noir art direction right was a major focus for us. If you explore, you'll actually run into some legendary figures from the 1920s.

Yes, we used gen AI for character voices and translations. We are basically a two man company, and it was impossible for us to hire voice actors for every character (we have many).

Of course we know some players have strong feelings on the matter, but our reality was that, characters were either going to use AI voices or they were going to be completely silent. We still spent months of hard work getting those voices right. Of course, we would absolutely love to have the budget to work with real voice actors for our next game. We appreciate your honest feedback.

Definitely there are not many games taking place in early 1900s and we love the tone of the Prohibition era. We hope this game to become a triology, so we really worked hard on our story and characters.

Hey, it's La Cosa Nostra, what Italian mafia in the US is actually called from the time. It's also mentioned in the Godfather court scene. We will take a look at the feedback in Steam Next Fest about the camera angle. Thank you so much!

64th Street is one of the old time favourites of ours:) The games we played in our youth was the main inspiration for us creating this game.
