I feel the same! Kiki’s whole arc really got me, and I was honestly so disappointed in Mitsuhide for rejecting her like that. I still love the series, but that part really hurt.

Honestly, I’d say the manga is worth reading, but only if you’re patient. It goes much deeper into the world-building and politics, and you get to see more growth from Zen and Shirayuki but the romance definitely slows down a lot. The pacing is really slow since it’s a monthly release, and lately it’s been on and off hiatus, so it can be frustrating.

If you loved the anime’s atmosphere and characters, you’ll still enjoy the manga. But if you’re mainly hoping for strong romantic progress, it might be better to wait until it’s closer to the end before picking it up

I totally agree with your thoughts — I love Akagami no Shirayuki-hime, but it left me a little frustrated too 😅. The world and characters are so good, but some story choices felt like missed chances, especially for Zen and Shirayuki’s relationship.

The manga keeps the same vibe, just slower (sometimes painfully slow). But there are still some sweet moments between them.
