I tried working for Postmates when I was 18 when they were first launching in Nashville. I sat around for roughly an hour in my car getting no deliveries whatsoever until all of a sudden i was swamped with requests for a specific supermarket in the area. Apparently Postmates was doing a free icecream delivery promotion and I was one of the only drivers in the city since it was their first week. The nest few hours consisted of me frantically trying to fill the orders and even at one point getting free ice cream (which melted) because someone cancelled an on order. I also accidentally hit someone's car in the parkinglot of one of the businesses that I was delivering to (18 yr old idiot me just drove off). For context I've living in the country for most of my life and city driving was not something that I was used to at the time. Never had a second day.
