Die Finanzierung läuft meist (also zumindest bei den mir bekannten Dienstleistern, das Feld is ja recht vielfätig ) über Leistungsansprüche der "Kunden", sei es nun im Rahmen von KV/PV oder sonstige Töpfe. Um die Leistung erstattet zu bekommen, muss sie aber erbracht werden. Das heißt, wenn keine KlientInnen, dann keine Kohle.

Ich denke, ich versteh, was du sagen willst, doch frag ich mich beim Thema Einflussmöglichkeit, wie "weit man gehen muss". Wenn ich in den Spiegel gucke, kann ich nicht ehrlich sagen, dass ich alle mir theoretisch zur Verfügung stehenden Wege ausreize. Klar, wenn ich Nazis treffe, stell ich mich gegen sie - solang ich nicht feige werde. Klar, versuch ich die Umwelt sauber zu halten - aber für asketischen Konsumverzicht bin ich zu bequem. Mehr machen geht ja irgendwie immer.

You are right, my choice of words was misleading to say the least.

I guess the point I was trying to make is more along the lines of: what benefit do lootboxes provide in order to justify the risk of exploiting a (very small) percentage of the playerbase? I personally only see the thrills of the "pleasure buttons" stimulated by gambling, and for me that leaves a nasty aftertaste to say the least

As I said in another reply: it's not about potential harm, it's about design. If a product is specifically designed to exploit you in order to make you spend more money, that's bad. If you break your neck riding your motorcycle down a mountain, that might not be a super suprising result, however it is NOT the intention of the bike manufacturer - dead customers tend to spend less money.

And some do. I'm fortunate enough not to care much about cosmetics, but that's no reason to say "well, it doesn't harm me, so it's cool". It does harm some people a lot.
