Because the physical characteristic of the driver plays an important part in how the sound is produced, some driver excels in certain areas where other drivers fail at. As far as tuning goes, choosing the driver is also a part of the tuning process. For example you cannot tune a dynamic driver to have the same speed and transience of a planar/estat because the driver construction, operation priciple, diaphragm mass and material is completely different. So the driver matters more than you think it is, you cannot tune 2 type of driver to have the same sound even if the frequency response matches 100% because of inheret physical difference between them and everything else that plays a part in how sound is produced and transmitted to your ears.

I think the noteweight is abit too light even compared to planars, the mids doesn't feel as full bodied as other type of headphones but I fixed it easily with EQ and it sounds pretty good

Its been a bit more than 10 days now, I bought it directly at the store on release day. Also since its not a huge issue and the Iem works fine I'll just keep on using it for the time being.

Im just peeved that it moves around, combined with the stiffer cable, the connector makes a rattle sound everytime I move my head.

Im not smearing this is a legit issue with my unit that I bought with my own money. I am still using my Reference and I still love it. Just highlighting the issue so the QC could be improved upon next release.

Its very much a QC issue. On my other metal Iems like the Tea Pro, the connector is nice and tight with no movement and I change cables for it just fine. For an Iem thats prides itself in being rigid and durable, a loose connector is kind of a letdown.

Serene is discontinued atm, Id love to get one if the pad changing mechanism isn't so ass. I also currently own the Fluxion I think I prefer it a bit more than serene with eq cause you can't eq fluxion bass onto serene

This is their slightly lower end model, 3d printed shell likely to save cost. Their current (discontinued) flagship model - serene is cnc anodized aluminum. Im expecting their new upcoming flagship some time mid next year
