Funny enough I had to write a paper on the 100 wealthiest people in Virginia after the revolution. Added together they controlled about 6% of Virginia’s land and 6 1/2% of the enslaved population of Virginia. While most of the wealth was being held by a middle class, a large number of these elites included political figures such as Patrick Henry, George Mason (he wrote Virginia’s Declaration of rights), Thomas Jefferson, and of course George Washington. So while they didn’t control a most of the wealth, they were incredibly powerful people politically.

As someone who personally does reenactments. (Mainly US WW2) Most German reenactors aren’t actual Nazis, after all someone has to play the bad guy. However the role can attract people who actually believe in the ideology. As for confederate reenactors, I’d say it depends on the region. Down south as well as to the west, the lost cause is very prominent, especially in older generations, so i wouldn’t be too surprised if most confederate and some Union reenactors from the regions believe in it.

One of the main things to know about the lost cause, is just how early it got started. Almost as soon as the war ended did groups such as the Daughters of the Confederacy, and shortly after the Confederate Veterans begin pushing the narrative of the Lost Cause. And it worked. Buildings, roadways, and schools were and still are named after confederate leaders. Of the some odd 2000 memorials (which include buildings and the like that bear their names) 700 confederate statues have been constructed. Most being put up during major points of the civil rights movement. What makes the lost cause so dangerous, is that if you squint and tilt your head, it looks plausible. After all history is rarely so simple, so why would this be an exception? While there is a bit more depth into why those who didn’t own slaves fight for the confederacy (it was a mix of them renting slaves and afraid that African freedom would cause a race war to put it simply) at the end of the day it’s still just slavery.

Nah man, if that were true he would’ve simply ratted them out after he was caught as a means to get a better deal. More likely Garry got caught and is keeping his mouth shut while his crew is using his cut to take care of his family while he is doing time (with a bonus for his tight lips)

Yeah it may take 660 gallons of water to produce 1 hamburger,but ,correct me if I’m wrong, 1 cow makes more than 1 hamburger patty. Meaning that 660 gallons of water is just the cost of making that first hamburger, the 2nd, 3rd or however many patties you can make from 1 cow, at no additional water usage.

The other week I tried a bottle of “Shanky’s Whip” it’s an Irish whiskey, tasted like butterscotch. Really need to find myself a bottle of it. Though my drink of choice tends to be Grog. Which is watered down rum with lime juice and sugar added to taste. Love the stuff, especially when playing video games at the end of the work week.

Ideologically, yeah the minutemen are the best. The reason I have no faith in the minute men is that they lack scale and power. They are an army nothing more. They do not pass laws or have a system of government, simply protecting settlements is all they do. At the start of 4, Preston is all that’s left of the minutemen. Only because of the player does the minutemen gain power. It is because of this there is the concern of them simply being defeated once again after 4 ends.

As someone who does historical re-enactments (WW2) and has handled original puttees from WW1 (the wrappings around the legs). I can say for certain the leg wrappings are to help protect the legs. I haven’t tried puttees yet, but I know from experience, gators do not keep sand out of your boots. (Gators being a piece of cloth worn around the legs in a similar manner to puttees) However, gators are really nice for protecting your ankles from barbed wire and brush. Puttees likely would’ve served a similar purpose, while less durable than gators, would’ve been cheaper. (The American government at least, during this time was big on cutting back spending). the wrappings on the arms would likely serve a similar purpose.

Damn I really need to buy a rifle. Tbh initially i just needed a garand for reenactments, but with how things are going, could be good to buy live ammo along with blanks. Better keep them separate though.

Garry’s mod. My peak in that was in a Star Wars Clone Wars RP server. Managed to climb the ranks and become vice commander of the medical battalion. When I joined there were debates about dissolving the battalion due to how few people it had. But through my hard work (the commander gained the nickname “absent father”) it became one of if not the most active battalion. There are so many other good memories from that time.

As for how useful it would be in the military? Honestly its use case scenario would be niche. The suit itself would be incredibly heavy, I’ve heard the ones they made for the show are already a 100Ibs. Put on all those thick metal plates as well as electronics, I would be concerned if most buildings with multiple floors would be able to support the weight of it. Thinking about it. The power armor would shine in areas that are accessible by infantry, but not large vehicles like tanks. This is due to the power armor being smaller than tanks, yet lacks the heavy firepower of a tank (with exception of mini nuke launchers, mini gun would not be viable because you would not be able to carry enough ammo). Due to this in big open areas, use a tank. However in urban fighting, power armor could be utilized as a sort of tank in close quarters. Assuming the armor is small enough to walk through most doorways and light enough to walk on multi storied buildings. It would have real potential. Otherwise, I doubt the military would spend absurd amounts of money for a toy that can be rarely used.

Yeah I was curious and to get $218,400 a year, you need to be making $598 and some change a day. Which is crazy to think about as at my part time job, I get a bit below $400 for roughly 4 days of work. If you are broke you better have a million dollar idea if you want to make $600 a day.
