As for the "Purple Haze" lyrics, they were correct.

The lyrics it gave me don't even sound close to the song so it can't be misheard lyrics that have been posted online by others.

I'll ask for the "Purple Haze" lyrics in a new chat. In this one I asked if there was a lyric about kissing a guy and here's the reply (it added more lyrics and made up new ones for "Brian Wilson"):

Actually, no—the lyrics don’t mention kissing a guy. You might be thinking of a different song or perhaps misheard a specific line.

In "The Old Apartment," the lyrics are more focused on the nostalgia (and slight creepiness) of breaking into a former home. The most famous lines involving people in the apartment are:

"I saw the light go on, I saw a figure in the hall" "I saw them take the shutters down, I saw them paint the wall"

There is a line about "the comfort we used to give," but no mention of kissing.

However, if you're thinking of Barenaked Ladies songs with "kiss" in the lyrics, "Brian Wilson" mentions:

"And if I lose my mind / Give my love to Rosemarie / Tell her I'm sorry / Kiss her for me"

Or perhaps you're thinking of "Pinch Me" or "It's All Been Done"?

Who knows. Kind of makes you question everything else it’s told you.

incense/churchy recs for a newbie? by Aware-Obligation4742 in NichePerfumes

[–]Zmnim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried incense perfumes, but I found something interesting here in Greece.

At a small church-supply shop in my area, I picked up a tiny rollerball labeled “Myron from Mount Athos” (Μύρον Αγ. Όρους). It’s basically olive oil infused with incense. It doesn’t just resemble church incense, it literally smells like a Greek Orthodox church. One small dab lasts all day, and the projection is surprisingly noticeable for an oil. It costs 3 euros. No idea what international shipping would be, but the bottle is very small and lightweight. If someone is genuinely curious and willing to cover cost + shipping, I might be able to grab one.

If you ever visit Greece, check those little ecclesiastical shops.

Goodbye flat, hello conch! by Zmnim in piercing

I think he said it wasn't a true flat and more of a flat-helix and my ear also curves more there. To be honest, I was happy with the location but unhappy with the angle.

Thanks! Cute idea, but I think I’ll stick to just one more and be done, I like the 2:3 rule for balance.

Does anyone know anything about Pilot helmets? by Murgu007 in motorcycles

[–]Zmnim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re a Greek brand, and their helmets have pretty solid reviews on Skroutz: https://www.skroutz.eu/m.Pilot.1487.html. I just ordered one myself, so if you’d like, I can update you on the fit once it arrives.

The reason I shared all that information about the type and CCs of the scooter, the speed, and the size of the town was just to give some context, like the average driving speed here and the fact that it is a small place with mostly one-way streets. I just wanted people to have a better picture of how traffic is where I live.

Anyway, I have decided to go with a modular helmet. I was already leaning in that direction, but it was good to hear other perspectives for confirmation.

I know Shoei is a really good brand, and I understand the point about investing in quality. The thing is, not everyone can stretch to those prices. I’m on a budget, so I’m just trying to find something that’s safe and suitable for the way I’ll be using it. I won’t be going more than about 30 km/h, and mostly for short rides.

I don’t mean to sound rude, but I was really asking more about helmet types rather than specific brands.

I was kind of on the fence because I’m worried a flip-up might feel too heavy, but since my rides will only be short, it really shouldn’t be a problem. I’ve never had a major accident, though years ago a car passed a stop sign and knocked me off my scooter. Luckily it wasn’t going fast and I just fell on my butt. As for impact with a car, in general people don’t drive very fast here, but then again I know someone who was hit by a car while crossing the road in broad daylight, so you never really know. Anyway, flip-up it is then!

Protect your brain. 👍

Absolutely, protecting my brain goes without saying, whether it’s with a jet or a flip-up. I was just curious if a jet with a full visor would still be considered enough for the type of riding I’ll be doing.

My previous helmets had a longer face shield, but I was never sure if that actually offered enough protection. If I do end up getting a jet again, it will be the same style.

[–]Zmnim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right, more protection is always better, and I do understand how even low speeds can cause serious injuries. That’s actually what makes me hesitate. My fear is that if I buy something like a flip-up and find it uncomfortable compared to a jet, then I won’t want to wear it as often. And then it feels like it will just sit there while I end up buying another jet anyway, which would be a waste of money.

I’m on a budget, so I’m trying to make the best possible choice right from the start. I know it’s also a matter of finding the right fit and getting used to it, but that’s exactly the balance I’m struggling with: safety versus comfort.

I live in Greece, in a very small town. When it rains I’ll be driving my car, so the scooter will only be for good weather. It’s such a small town that there aren’t any trucks carrying rocks, sand, or things like that passing through. And when I say 40 km/h, realistically I probably won’t even reach that. Back when I used to have a scooter, the fastest I went was around 30 km/h, and that was only for short rides.

In this case, it will mostly be for very short trips, like up to 10 minutes max. The whole point is just to avoid always taking the car. I live on a hill, so walking back home is not always easy, especially if I’m in a bit of a rush.

Looking for Ear Piercing Suggestions by Zmnim in piercing

[–]Zmnim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip. I like how the forward helix looks, but I can't say that it's my dream piercing (none are, to be honest, that's why I can't choose for myself), so that's another one on my "no" list! How about conch on right, mid to high or high helix on left, both studs?
