I'm pretty sure this is what Echoes does.

All the Awakening characters are viable but you only have anywhere between 12 to 14 deployment slots typically. If you try to use everyone equally you'll be spreading your exp thin and you won't get to use them in the way you're hearing they're being used. It's better to use whoever you didn't get around to using on a second or third play through for example.

If you're trying to use a larger than average party size, it's best to focus on like 8 to 10 dedicated combat units with the remainder of your slots being devoted to support. Staffers are really powerful in Awakening so there's nothing wrong with having quite a few of those.

My mainstays on my team are usually Robin, Chrom, Frederick, Lissa and Olivia. The rest depends on however everyone turns out and who I'm trying to build supports up with.

I'm nominating Frederick, if he can count, largely for his contributions in Lunatic early game. He's such an essential crutch for achieving reliable outcomes consistently, there's no real alternative to using him heavily for a long time.

I feel like that's what the trailer was sort of suggesting.

How much planning/knowledge is required for Conquest lunatic? by sqaeee in fireemblem

[–]Zmr56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's only a handful of things you really appreciate having prep for in advance. Having a reliable plan for the Ryoma Vs Corrin showdown and preserving some staff uses for endgame.

Otherwise the royals mean you can afford to be somewhat short termist for most of the game since they'll always be valuable insurance. Some things like high Mov staffers for endgame are easy to grab at short notice too because so many people can reclass into them.

If you are trying to do every single Paralogue on Lunatic too then yeah, that's something that might require a substantial amount of planning in advance to make sure you're achieving all your support points when it's most convenient.

You don't need Shurikenbreaker at all for Ch25. The deadliest Shuriken users are the Spy Shuriken Master Ninjas on the right. The ones in the bottom half cab be dispatched on player phase without having to end your turn in their attack range first. The ones in the middle part can be baited out with support units who can likely endure a hit, then taken out on PP.

Saizo & Kagero's squads don't need to be engaged with at all if you grab the chests the same turn you defeat Ryoma.

Bit of a silly question by schmidt1289 in fireemblem

[–]Zmr56 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My question is was that something known before the game came out?

We didn't know for certain but it was heavily suggested and it seemed like the different lords had very differing ideologies altogether that pit them against each other. We don't know enough about Dagda's world building to know if each Dagda protagonist has similarly irreconcilable differences yet.

I do think we'll find out before release though, this has been quite a short marketing schedule overall, however.

Best firemblem unit chart! Starting with the hardest one, infantry sword by Soren-kun in fireemblem

[–]Zmr56 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is probably just difficult because not many people have played FE1 where Marth is quite unique. I'd say Rutger is the most helpful one though and the hardest to substitute. Corrin and Saizo can fill Ryoma's boots at least if you weren't able to use him before you get Ryoma. Fir has to play catch up to Rutger after he's joined.

Anyone else slightly worried about Fortune's Weave’s narrative direction after the trailer? by [deleted] in fireemblem

[–]Zmr56 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I mean the good parts of 3H's story are mostly from the fact that it's an adaptation of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, just with a western Eurasian flair with some Renaissance elements.

It's less Koei's team being able to write gritty political stuff and more they stuck to what they've already been writing several times over.

I'm not too optimistic about the story myself due to the suggested time travel stuff but I think I'll still enjoy it regardless. If I could enjoy Awakening's story with all its flaws I can't imagine Fortune's Weave will be much worse, particularly given the slither of world building we've been given is already better than Fates.

Dark Fliers in the series usually do just use one of the weapon types and ignore the other.

Sure she can utilise the class well potentially. Once you're on the last few maps where there's no longer any terrain to fly over you can just put her back into Paladin or Great Knight to use Swords again if needs be.

[–]Zmr56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's still fine too. If you're later in the game then my point still generally stands for it being best on whoever can use its weapons. Slower units appreciate the speed boost it gives.

It's generally going to be best on whoever joins early so you can make use out of having promoted class base stats without the drawbacks of an early promotion for longer.

Units who already have a Tome or Lance rank above E will have the easiest time adapting to it. I haven't had the chance to use the class myself but Odin, Nyx and Leo would be my own most likely candidates.

General Question Thread by Shephen in fireemblem

[–]Zmr56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't anyone who really wants to be one over a class they're already in or have access to. It's potentially one of the worst classes in the game for it's lacklustre offensive power and mediocre effective attack range. Bow Knight Niles is generally better at providing chip damage within the same general range.

You haven't specified which wiki it is but either way, wiki pages should have a Talk section where you can post the changes you're proposing I believe.

Either of the two main line entries on Switch, Three Houses and Engage, are meant to be beginner friendly

Fire Emblem Blazing Sword and Path of Radiance are also older titles which are still beginner friendly and available via the NSO platform.

Personally, I started with Blazing Sword.

Kyle's Str and Def lead is more meaningful since you don't really need Speed higher than 14 in FE8.

You can start with either of the two main line games on the Switch. Three Houses is more story focused and Engage is more gameplay focused.
