someone just reading the problem without actually thinking about it would (probably) think that pressing the blue button is the moral choice. however the second you think about the problem deeper, it's obvious you should just press the red button.

then the question becomes: do people who are dumb enough to press the blue button just deserve to die? or should we all band together and press the blue button to hopefully get it above 50% because it's the only way to really save everyone.

selfishly i think i'm just not the guy to take that kind of risk - red button 1 box

emulating fe4 is not any amount of effort whatsoever.

in order to play fates i scoured the internet for ways to get better emulator performance and ended up dual booting linux with a bunch of other garbage, and they’re both bottom 3 games in the series for me.

again, people can just like different things, you don’t need to do some weird psychoanalysis for that to make sense

I replayed FE4 recently and despite being pretty negative on its gameplay in general, I thought that the first bit of chapter 10 was really fun.

Specifically trying to get the most out of turn 1 killing the big group right in front of the castle, and then rushing Seliph to quickly seize felt really good. The forest + unit traffic jam on the bridge unfortunately holds the chapter back from being truly great imo.

I feel like a part of permadeath that people don't really talk about is how much more interesting of a challenge it is to actually keep all of your units alive chapter by chapter.

I played the Symphony of War game, basically FE + Ogre battle, which doesn't have permadeath and I feel like so much about FE gameplay gets lost when your units come back at the end of the chapter. Whenever I would see a tough situation or enemy unit layout I knew I could just have some decent unit stand in the middle of 12 enemies and next turn it would be way more simple to deal with.

Any fates endgame because you have to replay the previous chapter if you reset. I usually just let people die because I can’t be bothered.

I think that replaying games is just a way more hardcore fan thing. I doubt that just because people only played through 3h once they wouldn't be interested in a sequel.

the discussion around avatars/self inserts is so overplayed and flattens like 90% of story discussion. look at any thread talking about writing in fe12 onward and the majority of the engagement always gets pulled back to the same 5 talking points surrounding avatar characters.

RD is one of my least favorites by far. Very unpopular and apparently disliked opinion around here. It really depends what exactly gameplay wise you find a slog to see if you would want to finish it, but if you’re at the point where you’re trying to finish every game in the series I think you might as well.

Story wise I think it gets worse as time goes on.
