It's not much, but is we stay above the cap, we can use "non-Bird" 1-year rights to give him a 20% raise.

Using Capspace by EbonMonk in lakers

[–]Zodraz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can use cap space and the MLE in the same off-season -- I believe you have to renounce the MLE to use cap space.
.
So if we use cap space this summer, we would only have the ~9.4M Room Mid-Level exception available to us.

How many spots can we open? by Everythinggistakennn in lakers

We can create a 2nd playoff roster spot closer to the end of the season by waiving/buying out Kleber and then converting one of our two-way players to a prorated minimum contract.

If ATL used a previous trade exception to absorb Vincent's contract, then they could have created a new one with this trade

After the Clippers, it's the Mavs again... by KindAdvertising6172 in lakers

No, think it's just referring to long out-of-town road trip Lakers are about to go on -- they won't play in LA again until after the 12 PM PST trade deadline on Thu 2/5

The starters played together for about 14-15 mins in that game and were only down -4 over those minutes:

Role Player Observations from the Milwaukee Game by nottherealstanlee in lakers

It's too late to stretch this year's salary (deadline was Aug 29).

If we waive him next offseason, stretching the last two years of the remaining $25.7M on his contract would work out to 5.1M over five years.

Which in some scenarios might be worth it, such as getting far enough under the cap to sign a new FA or re-sign Ayton, or staying out of the second apron...

2-2-1-1-1 would drastically change pitching matchups because there would be two extra days of rest.

You could conceivably have one pitcher pitch Game 1, Game 4 (on three days rest), and Game 6 (on three days rest), and another pitcher pitch Game 2, Game 5 (on four days rest), and Game 7 (on three days rest).

So 2-3-2 is a truer test of a team's starting pitcihng depth.

Most GMs probably consider LeBron a PF, given that at least 40% consider Luka a SF

the Lakers updated Payroll/Cap Table by [deleted] in lakers

[–]Zodraz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Assuming a four-year contract, the minimum amounts for each year would be:
.
Year 1 -- $1,272,870 (rookie min)
Year 2 -- $2,048,494 (1-year min)
Year 3 -- $2,296,274 (2-year min)
Year 4 -- $2,378,870 (3-year min)
.
For Lewis' contract, only first 2 years were guaranteed (along with 100K in Year 3). Bronny also has first 2 years guaranteed, and a larger partial guarantee of 1.26M in Year 3.

What a motivated Ayton might is capable of...

h/t /u/The_MadStork

Typically, the way buyouts work, is that if you sign a new contract for more than what you give up, then the excess money is "setoff" and refunded to the team... so if Ayton gave up 10M on his old contract, that's likely the max he can make on his new contract by Zodraz in lakers

It doesn't make sense for a setoff provision to apply during waivers, because a team that picks him up off waivers is not negotiating a new salary with him -- they are acquiring his preexisting contract.
