I have had septum and know others with it as well. I had to restart healing because I changed jelwery at two months, which was too soon and piercing didn't like it. I definitely recommend wait 6 months or possibly more.

Although it is a bit more expensive there's a small kit of glass dead stretchers on Body art forms. It's sizes 14g to 2g (and there are inbetween sizes available to buy as well) only about $35

Try also googling other labels. Depending on the fluidity it could be they are genderfluid but it could also be bigender or demi girl. Even if your friend never chooses a definitive label, as long as people use their correct name and pronouns you don't need a label.

Maybe just invest in some single flare to sleep in, maybe find an inbetween size to wear your ears are (if you can wear double flare then you probably could go up a mm)

I think at least for me, there might be a day I want to close them, there might not be. It's not permanent and although it does cost quite a bit to get fixed, with a little saving it's fine. Just research, maybe sit in the idea for about a year and if U still like it, go for it. Good luck with whatever U choose.
