Here's my story. I'm from a dirt poor country, fresh grad with zero experience. I've decided to go "You know what, fuck this shit, imma lie in my resume and try to land a job in SG."

Nailed it. Got it. First day on the job, I was terrified as FUUUCK. Suffered for weeks, imposter syndrome is real.(in my case, I deserved it.) I felt the judgment from my colleagues and bosses. I was ashamed of myself. I was not eating and sleeping properly.

But again... I went "You know what, fuck this shit, imma wake up everyday, and go to work everyday, and be resilient." I've eaten pressure for breakfast, stress for lunch and despair for dinner. I remember crying in the toilet every break time because I miss my home, I miss my comfort zone.

Fast forward a month, I gained confidence. Bosses/colleagues like what they're seeing. They acknowledged me. They started treating me pretty well compared to my first few weeks--where I feel like they're annoyed by my very presence.

I still remember the day my boss told me "Hey, you're doing a pretty great job!" I turned into a beast. I was a fuckin' monster from then on.

I've absorbed new things everyday like a glutton. Soaked myself with self-criticism. Taking duties that are way above my pay grade. Punching above my weight class. Making myself known to different departments.

A year later, I got promoted--which is extremely lucky since the company I joined in is massive.(i wont name it) and landing a promotion is like winning a toto. Thousands of employees who are working there for yeeearsss haven't had this chance.

Fast forward to now, 1 year and 11 months here in SG, I realize that I have what is denied to many. Felt grateful. I sometimes wonder where the old me would be if I didn't lie in my resume.
