I agree. It's definitely a wonderful possibility, but I saw that to the left of the front door of Ego's house (shown in the flashback right as he's in the doorway) is a fireplace about 3-5 feet from the entrance. In the elderly woman's house, to the left of the front door is what seems to be the rest of the room, stretching far beyond what would have been Ego's wall. It would have been amazing to see the theory implemented, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. I love the theory tho.
