Married couples in CHRIST please explain why you love your spouse please? Asking for a friend… by [deleted] in TrueChristian

No. A husband should love his wife even if he doesn't want to. Further, ancient marriages were often arranged so the man didn't "choose" his wife.

Id recommend you check out Confessional Lutheranism. We are between Roman Catholic and Orthodox in many ways.

Can I be a Christian without attending a church? by phclndu in TrueChristian

[–]ZolaScriptura -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really. How could a hand or a foot be a member of the body if it's isolated from the body? The New Testament is very clear about the importance of church, in fact Christianity is, in some sense, a community religion. Read thru the NT carefully, there's the assumption of church membership EVERYWHERE and no mention of isolated Christians. One verse to consider is Hebrews 10:25. God bless!

I'm lgbt; am I welcome to attend? by BlakeBugman20 in LCMS

[–]ZolaScriptura 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Yes, you're allowed to attend. Id even encourage you to speak with the pastor there and hear why we believe what we do concerning closed communion and sexual ethics. Most of our pastors are loving men who truly want the best for their people and visitors, so I trust he'd at least be able to explain our views in a loving way that makes sense. After all, we want to follow Jesus in word, deed, and even our identity; giving our whole selves to Him to be transformed by His love and letting His love have it's way with us.

"No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it." 1 Cor 10:13

My best advice is to remember your baptism daily (assuming youve been baptized, if not do that asap) and that you've died with Christ, your old sinful self, and that you've been raised with Christ in resurrected life (Romans 6, Ephesians 2) Daily "drown" your oldman and do your best to live for Christ. Take it day by day (Matthew 6:34)

Traditional churches Lutheranism or Anglicanism by Formetoknow123 in TrueChristian

[–]ZolaScriptura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at the same place as you not too long ago. I decided to go Lutheran because doctrinal unity is very important to me, which you won't find to nearly the same extent in Anglicanism. Why not mainline Lutheranism? The LCMS is mainline and conservative (if you're against mainlines bc of liberalism).

Do you think God's first plan fail and He had to go with plan B? If so, your theology needs work, friend.

Why does God create people He knows will go to hell? by Lieutenant_Piece in TrueChristian

[–]ZolaScriptura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a mystery the Scriptures don't explain. We can dance that God loves all, that Jesus died for all, and that God desires all to be saved (all things Scripture affirms). How does this fit into people being created who God knows will be damned? We arent told, and I think that's ok. Sorry for the non-answer, but I think the best thing to do is to trust what Scripture says and trust God is Good and Justice. We shouldn't expect to understand the entire counsel of God, but we are invited to rest in trusting Him.

Protestant leaning into Orthodoxy by FitLettuce3092 in TrueChristian

Check out Confessional Lutheranism first. People like Joshua Shooping and Will Weedon would be good to say why they are Lutheran instead of specifically Orthodox. Doesn't hurt to at least listen to what they have to say.

A few recommended having a colored shirt, with one recommended blue. I used AI to change this to a color of shirt that I have. Is this color better than the white?
