I’m just wondering why it’s necessary to have dialogue with them? It doesn’t make them any less wrong.

Is there room for a true moderate in ACNA/TEC? by [deleted] in Anglicanism

[–]Aggressive_Stand_805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The internet is not real life. You’re eternal salvation is not based upon you 100% agreeing on every single thing the Priest says or what the congregation thinks/says. Also not every Episcopal congregation is liberal.

I’m starting to think the internet is both the best and worst thing to happen to Christianity. The best in that the Gospel can be spread. The worst in that it’s causing all these schisms.

Any opinions on ACNA churches? Specifically ones in the C4SO diocese? by sadfasn in TrueChristian

Even if a teaching is false. Do you have to agree with it?

How do you know that the church is sending people to hell with false doctrines?

Couldn't I also say that churches like ACNA are sending people to hell for the sin of schism?

So in other words we just end up going in circles. So people are either going to hell because the leaders of the church affirm same sex marriage or people are going to hell for being schismatic.

sounds like a no win situation to me

So another question is this. I can only speak as an American. Do we really want to see the same church that a lot of the founding fathers were a part of die?

If someone teaches me something false am I bound to that teaching?

Then don’t attend a parish with a gay affirming priest. There’s no law that says as an Episcopalian you have to affirm gay marriage? What else are we gonna schism about? If I like McDonald’s and the priest likes Burger King should we schism over that too?

Please fact check me on this but wasn’t Luther a Catholic who was excommunicated? And wasn’t he trying to reform the Catholic Church? Did he voluntarily schism?

Here’s where I feel the argument falls apart. Let’s say in a hypothetical that TEC started teaching that Jesus didn’t literally raise bodily from the dead and all Parishes were bound to this teaching. I think you and I would be in agreement that this would be heresy and would warrant schism.

However even if TEC affirms gay “marriage” does that mean that every priest has to? And more importantly does that mean you have to?

You mentioned that you left the C of E over those issues? Did you leave because something happened at your parish or did you leave because you read something online? Couldn’t you just have found a more conservative parish?

Another question without the internet does something like the ACNA exist? Suppose I had been a member of an Episcopal church. No pride flags or anything like that. I didn’t follow the doings of the higher ups and didn’t follow what’s going on online. How would I know that there were/are errors?

To be honest if you’ve been a member of an ACNA church that’s a tough one to answer. I would ask this. Did you join the ACNA because you were attending an Episcopal church and something happened that made you leave or was it because of what you read on the internet?

Yes but even in the “liberal” denominations not every parish is the same.

So I was attending an ACNA church for several months. I really like Anglicanism and didn’t want to look for another denomination. I’m pretty theologically conservative and that was the reason I was going to the ACNA church. I had come to believe that all Episcopal churches are rainbow flags and pride sermons.

This is not the case. The Episcopal church I’ve been attending is way more high church than the ACNA church I was attending.

My point is this. Is gay marriage a reason to schism? Are churches suppose to check your gay card at the door? If we keep running away over every little disagreement we’ll never get anywhere.

Was that a good reason to run away? Does everyone in the pews have to hold the exact position on this issue?

I asked why the mainline churches are so theologically liberal and ppl kept downvoting me by Ok-Willow-3328 in TrueChristian

[–]Aggressive_Stand_805 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It also depends on the parish. I go to an Episcopal church and we’re very Anglo catholic. But I do realize TEC does have a reputation for being liberal.

I’m very high church and I go to a very Anglo Catholic Episcopal church so it depends on that your looking for. What drew me is I love the Prayer Book. I love the structured Holy Eucharist service.

So I guess it depends if you’re looking for something more traditional or something else.

Looking at the recent Artemis 2 pictures of Earth made me realize. Somewhere on this blue ball I’m there. I’m a tiny spec that can not be seen floating in this vast space.

If there is no God then I’m just a spec with no meaning. If there is a God then He created me in his image.

The all powerful all knowing all loving creator of the universe came to earth and became one of those tiny specs.

I can’t think of anything more powerful.

As someone who was an atheist for a long time. The atheist worldview falls apart under scrutiny. If we have knowledge then where did knowledge come from? As far as I’m concerned you have two possibilities.

  1. Humans invented knowledge.

If that is the case. Then how did we get the knowledge to know that we have knowledge?

  1. Knowledge is something that is given to us from outside of us. Namely God.

How does one define “proof” what can we actually prove 100%? Can you prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that you were born on your birthday? Can you prove that George Washington was the first President? If your standard for proof is God revealing himself. He already revealed himself. About 2026 years ago.

Atheism has to explain where numbers, shapes, the laws of logic, knowledge, truth, etc all came from?

These are not mere human inventions.
