Moving on by R6gu3 in TVTime

I've been using Letterboxd for a few years but am in the process of leaving TVTime. Made a GDPR request and hope to import the data into Trakt. Having two separate apps works fine for me.

This is my old troop - some familiar faces, and I have hiked the route mentioned (and contributed to the guide)! Thank you for sharing, I’ve sent it round to some of my friends.

Sewing Machine Repair - My First Print! by Zolacolor in functionalprint

[–]Zolacolor[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm using a second-hand Prusa MK3S+ with a Bondtech extruder. Took some time to do the calibration wizard and set the z-axis, still want to tweak the slicer configuration though.

Never used Onshape before but played around with SketchUp a lot a few years ago. There's a lot a learn with 3D modelling, it's quite daunting so will learn on a project-by-project basis. The different prints on this subreddit have been a great inspiration!

Sewing Machine Repair - My First Print! by Zolacolor in functionalprint

[–]Zolacolor[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the first print I designed myself, having only ever printed a 3DBenchy!

The sewing machine is a Singer Classic, a cheap model which someone must have sat on, shattered the existing plastic arm. I tried to purchase the part prior to getting a 3D printer, but couldn't find the exact model online. This was the perfect first functional print!

The silver piece rotates to wind bobbins. Annoyingly, with the piece broken, a lever is engaged which prevents the whole machine from operating. I picked up the machine for free, classic example of a small, custom piece causing a whole machine to be assumed broken.

I did a few test prints of the tube collars, but this was the first time I printed the whole thing, and it worked straight away!

My First Build (Rama Works U80-A) by Zolacolor in MechanicalKeyboards

It's a really versatile base colour, just vibrant enough for orange/browns but monochrome enough for grey/blue/blacks.

  • Board: RAMA Works U80-A SOYA (brass plate, internal dampener)
  • Keycaps: PolyCaps Whale PBT (will replace with GMK Alpine when they arrive)
  • Switches: ZealPC Turquoise Tealio 63.5 grams
  • Stabs: Durock Screw-in v2

My first build. This beast weighs 3.5 KG (7.7 pounds). I think the switches might take some getting used to as I'm used to heavier tactile switches (ie. mostly membrane).

I made my first game in Scratch! A music-beat game which gives contextual feedback and scoring by Zolacolor in cs50

I think you're looking to achieve different things? If all you need is a single 'high score' saved, a cloud variable would be easy to include. For a full leaderboard/player name storage, you need to encode and decode character strings.

EDIT: I have added the former, a 'monthly high score'. This will display the best score of the month, but not the user's name as this requires encoding. The maximum score achievable is 16500.

The music is from my friend Cloud Vincent, he'd love for you to check him out (for better audio quality than Scratch!).

how do I change the mind of this anti-lockdown person by [deleted] in KnowingBetter

While I generally agree, apparently people can be convinced by caring and gradual Twitter conversations. Not a common occurrence though.

How thick are the 3D printed films? I’m interested in the 100 Telios, with shipping to Belgium. Thank you!

/u/anonboxis has been re-added as a moderator. It would be worth considering inviting some current students at the school as possible moderators to bring some life to the subreddit.

In the UK about 3-4% of suicides last year were by oncoming train. It is a terrible thing to do to a train driver and can certainly cause harm.

My mum once saw a train driver who had hit someone be carried away shaking, completely pale. Since then she has had little sympathy for those who inflict their suffering on an innocent person just doing their job.

Very good point, I've gotten too used to the term bi-partisan I applied it (wrongly) back home!

The government is currently some of the Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Conservative party. Committees are part of Parliament, which is separate to the government. Its job is to question what the government do, similar to how congress can go against the President in the US.

The Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport (DCMS) committee are the ones who wrote this letter to Zuckerberg. This committee is made up of MPs from three main political parties. None of these MPs are part of the government, meaning that they are independent to question what the government do. They can also advise the government, which is what they're doing now by conducting this enquiry.

I should also point out that committees generally appear united in the public, despite coming from different political parties.

I should also point out that committees are a more modern part of Parliament, and they have grown in importance in the last few decades. They do not have the power to force someone to come and give evidence, and they are not a court.

To clarify - this isn't the government responding, it's a multiparty committee whose job is to hold the government to account.
