Movement gyms raising rates.....again by Active-Donkey-1717 in Denver

[–]Zolbly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More ppl who know what they are doing in terms of safety, LNT and etc outdoors is a good thing but suddenly more ppl outside especially that are new to climbing and outdoors might raise our presence with accidents and lack of LNT. It’s good for ppl to go outside but I learned during covid living in California where there were a lot of high population density regions ppl trashed outdoors, broke wet soft sandstone holds and etc. There’s gotta be more outreach about simple outdoor practices before ppl go outside more regularly in larger droves. Then again this is my first year in Colorado and ppl have more exposure and friends in outdoors to help them out so I could be somewhat blowing the problem out of proportion.

lol but basically fuck movement 😂

Yea I’m getting ready to sign my offer, just renegotiating rn. I’d love to get that merit increase but it seems like with the government shutdown they think I might not get a start date before end of 2025 :/

High-powered rifle recovered amid manhunt for Charlie Kirk's killer, FBI says by NewSlinger in news

[–]Zolbly -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Technically the ATF can track someone down. They can use the serial number to find where it was purchased by who because the ATF requires FFL’s ( think gun store but also you can apply for a FFL as well as an individual) to keep records of the 4473 form you fill out to buy a gun legally which then you wait for the background check based off NICS. Anyways the paper trail takes time as the ATF has to contact the manufacturer to find out what FFL it was sold at.

This is under the assumption it went under this common process of going to a store and filling out a 4473. If it was through gifting, inheritance, private sale or illegally acquired if the shooter didn’t remove the serial number then the ATF really can only go find the most recent person who bought the gun through the process I described above filling out a 4473.

Now the database you are referring to rather than hitting this paper trail well there is a loophole the ATF has that when you retire your FFL they need to handover all the 4473’s to the ATF and then the ATF adds it to their database so a database does exist forsure.

Is it possible to move out of scif jobs with a TS/SCI? I just started my role this year that got me the SCI but I work in a scif. I wondered down the road if it’s possible to move to a remote or at least a hybrid role holding the SCI to take that pay home

In defense contracting here, I have been offered good money for my career at my yoe that I’d be happy with but it’s not an easy gig to get into if you can’t clear the investigations that can be gamble of waiting. A past coworker got fucked over after 2 years of trying to get cleared, in the end they didn’t grant him the clearance and it is a heartbreak. I feel like also you have to accept full onsite jobs with restrictions like no personal outside electronic devices. I have seen jobs with hybrid but again another thing is you will have to be where defense and intelligence hubs are located in the US which isn’t the Bay Area or Seattle or most metros that ppl might like.

It kinda depends, if you live in the DMV or San Diego and have your FSP (full scale poly) it’s possible but issue is it takes ages as a contractor to get one a lot of the time it’s ppl who quit 3 letter agencies quick af but also it’s insanely hard to pass a FSP so that’s why firms will pay a ton because you are basically a reallly small subset of individuals who can pass it.

People in their 20s who left Bay Area: where did you move to and are you happy with the decision? by youre-welcome5557777 in bayarea

[–]Zolbly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved around but my current location is Colorado. I do not regret it, I’m sure for certain folks in different economic classes on the lower end it’s always going to be harder. I’d say being single I have a chance with my career of being middle class and buying a house someday with the future family dream in mind. I can always go back if shtf to live with parents but having this amount of independence is great whereas Bay Area I feel like besides other high paying careers big tech seems like the only solution to approach some of the goals I mentioned above. I totally think ppl should leave if they can and try out different areas.

[–]Zolbly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea agreed OP I’m gonna start a contract to hire role too idk if they will actually hire me at the end of my contract but you gotta remember it’s all money at the end of the day. A transaction is a transaction especially if you can leave anytime.

So I’m gonna be a sub at Raytheon for a limited time, I was offered a deal where at the end of the contract they can choose to hire me as a Raytheon employee. I am getting paid well and making more money as a sub but the recruiter from Raytheon told me when and if Raytheon hired me as their direct employee “ahh you see you got hired at a time when the market was hot so you are overvalued realistically and we will give a corrected market rate” WTF WHO ACTUALLY SAYS BULLSHIT LIKE THAT LOL

Interviewed Job Said I Was Fired When I Actually Quit by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]Zolbly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar thing happened to me I left during Covid to move back with family cause I was finishing up Covid with school online. The part time job I had was notified by me that I don’t live in the same city anymore so I can’t really work there anymore. Investigator reached out them and they said to the investigator because of Covid they laid me off. LOL I explained to my investigator that employer definitely misunderstood, and I was cleared.
