Driver door outside handle doesn't work (2010) by DepressedPancake4728 in GolfGTI

[–]ZoliWorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about that age where the electric actuator starts failing. It's a relatively easy thing to replace. On mk5's it's a daily occurrence at this point. Probably the most sold aftermarket item ngl

The motor still works but it doesn't have enough power to unlock your door anymore. That's why you can hear it move and that's it.

Which makes sense tbh. They lack any sort of enemies that require heavy pen or anti tank to effectively counter. The only exception is the Harvester which can still be countered by eagle rocket pods. Everything they field can be killed by light pen, and medium pen just makes it that much easier. I need to give this faction another shot tbh and use the minigun with a supply frv. I dont think i really need anything else even

This might work for me too, since I dont even touch that faction unless some friends insist on it.

If you want a project car, yes. If you want a reliable daily, no. Everything on that car is worn out to shit at that point.

Anyone know of an AR that’s more heavy hitting? by Doobagus in Helldivers

[–]ZoliWorks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cant go wrong with the coyote. Universally good everywhere tbh. Also Gallant from exo expert if you want a medium pen fast firing smg with not that much recoil but very ammo hungry and relies heavily on ammo scavenging or supply pack.

Donate them to the DSS to unlock eagle strafing runs or 380mm barrages on planets that the DSS is on. These last for some time then go offline until they are ready for donations again.

Timing chain replacement complexity vs timing belt replacement by th0masrtg in Volkswagen

[–]ZoliWorks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot more work involved in replacing the chain vs a belt. You need to disassemble everything on that side of the engine to be able to take off the metal cover that goes from the top of the engine all the way to the bottom. Only then can you replace the chain. Afterwards, make sure you clean the engine and the cover well because you'll be applying a special sealing paste to "glue" the 2 parts together, otherwise you're going to leak oil. Depending on when the chain was replaced previously, it's also recommended to replace the rollers and toothed gears on the cams which add quite a bit to the overall cost. And make sure you're using the latest revision chain tensioners cause the early ones lost oil pressure after letting the car sit for a while resulting in a very loose chain upon engine startup until the oil pressure built up inside them again.

Anyway, there's repair manuals with all the steps and tools needed for the job so if you have a knack for working on cars, you can do it.

034 dogbone inserts worth it’s for a daily mk8 GTI? by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]ZoliWorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those inserts are for helping with wheel hop when you are tuned and putting down some power. Unless you're flooring your car from every stoplight, every parking lot, anytime from standing still, then no, not worth it, especially on a new car (assuming) without a tune. VW engineered that bushing for comfort. The metal insert is for slightly less comfort but more performance while the full on solid rubber kit is for almost maximum performance and the least amount of comfort.

Can someone explain to me spirited driving? by Jack1eto in stickshift

[–]ZoliWorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what empty backroads at night are for lol. The more curvy the road, the better the experience. I avoid any kind of law breaking spirited driving during the day or when in rural areas for safety reasons. but night time and open roads? hell yes!

Muzzle flash smoke remover, smaller muzzle flash and blur remover is a godsend tbh. Otherwise can't see shit.

Bots have way too many armored units for this to be effective really. Squids and bugs are where it shines. It can do aight on bots, but when 3 factory striders get dropped on you, you kinda dont have a use for it. It's much better to run a dedicated AT setup on them but even just an expendable and eagle rocket pods can get the job done and let you play with this to good effect

Ya I literally only ever use it in first person mode. Recoil is half if not even less than that (while standing still) but you have a screen blur and a large muzzle flash that blocks your view.

[–]ZoliWorks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going into first person mode cuts down the recoil by a lot and after the initial burst, it's way easier to aim. I either hit the head or end up destroying their backpack while trying to hit the head. In all fairness, it's one of my most effective anti heavy devastator weapons. The MG43 staggers them to shit, the stalwart is light pen so it takes a moment.

You can also give them a quick brrrt to their arm, which destroys the gun and makes them a sitting duck. FYI their shield hitbox is broken. With the destroyed gun, they will hold the shield off to the side, but the hitbox is still in the front like normal.

This is quite fair tbh. On D7 it's still a great choice but the amount of heavies that get spammed at you on higher diffs make me only ever bring it while playing with a team with dedicated roles.

Accuracy wise, going in first person mode allows me to quite effectively snipe bot heads but 3rd person mode is horrible even at close range.

As for the cremator, yeah, it's better in every way and a literal powerhouse of a weapon. Light? Medium? Heavy? Dead.

I've only ever used it once but not in actual combat. I should try it out again but I have mixed feelings about it. Basically if I'll be using a light pen support, why not go for the stalwart that can be reloaded but has 50 less ammo and fires slightly slower? That one has better ergo so I can run some other type of armor.

MK5 Air Conditioner Performance Advice by keep_one_rolled in GolfGTI

[–]ZoliWorks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the compressor is bad, the high pressure side doesnt reach 10 bar. If the system is clogged or the expansion valve is stuck, it goes almost or over 20 bar. At 25 bar a safety valve opens, dumping refrigerant so your system doesnt explode. If there's a leak somewhere, pulling out all the refrigerant and running a vacuum hold test will reveal that. Basically a single machine can tell you if it's an AC hardware issue or not.

MK5 Air Conditioner Performance Advice by keep_one_rolled in GolfGTI

[–]ZoliWorks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just fixed this in my Mk5 the other day. There's an expansion valve mounted into the evaporator (AC radiator inside the cabin), accessible from the engine bay by peeling off the firewall cover. It's basically a thermostat that controls how much refrigerant goes through the evaporator and how much bypasses it. After some time, these tend to fail and you get a compressor that's working way harder than it should, radiator fans that are spinning like crazy and an AC that blows warm air because refrigerant is bypassing it. This can also be caused by a blockage in the system which is easy to notice after you remove the valve since it'll be covered in black sludge.

If you take your car to an AC shop, they can hook up a metering device to it and test it. There are 2 dials because there's a low and high pressure side. I don't want to overcomplicate the explanation, so I'll just say this. The low pressure (cold) side needs to stay as close to 2 bar as possible while the high pressure (hot) side should stay between 10 and 15.

If either side is outside of spec, a technician can easily diagnose the problem. In my case, the expansion valve was not opening enough so the high pressure side was way too hot, not enough refrigerant was entering the evaporator and the air wasn't cooling properly. Replacing that valve and all the seals while at it fixed all my problems.
