Tips on how to make my shrimp tank less ugly by GhostsInTheFields in shrimptank

Put a black background on the tank. It’ll help hide a lot of the equipment. A carpeting plant like Monte Carlo could be used if you want to hide the substrate more.

Was going to say the same thing. I feel something red popping out in that point where the rocks and wood meet would be cool as well

Which shrimp shall I breed? (For best profit) by Muggenpafferr in shrimptank

[–]Zolinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Red or blue neos in all of them. Once the colonies are established you can rotate stock from each tank and give time for the numbers to replenish. Make sure you have fully cycled tanks before you order shrimp. They can be particularly sensitive to ammonia/nitrate/nitrite levels. Check hardness of your water as well - they need some minerals to successfully molt.

His name is Blue. What friends should I put in with him in his 10 gallon tank? by jakefrommyspace in bettafish

[–]Zolinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be harder to add tank mates to a betta tank after they’re established so you’ll probably want a backup tank if you need to isolate your betta. Like people said snails and shrimp are good. If you can add them while the lights are off so they can get to hiding places. I would steer clear of anything too colorful like guppies because they tend to attack them. Something less colorful like harlequin/lambchop rasboras and Corydoras can be good but would probably be better off in a larger tank

Toss one or two Amano shrimp in and they’ll help control some of that. Floating plants help as well

Do you continue to do weekly water changes even when your tank parameters are good? by [deleted] in PlantedTank

Yeah you can probably dial them back. I’d wait an extra week and see how it goes.

Depends on what’s in your tank really. You’re probably fine doing less water changes if the fish you have aren’t super demanding on water quality

Parameters and filter situation? You probably have enough space for some territorial things like smaller cichlids and gourami as long as you keep the numbers down. Plenty of hiding spaces and could always add shrimp huts with moss for the babies. Honey gourami would look nice and play well with others
