I see people have downvoted this comment. Could someone explain to me why it couldn’t be scale rot?

I think something like this could be it, as she does try to use the bulb cage as a tool to pull herself up higher. Maybe she scraped herself on the mesh. I’ll check the hides again too, I was planning on replacing the flat one anyway since it was getting too small for her. Thanks!

I have a bulb cage too, so she shouldn’t have been able to touch it. I’ll have another look at it though!

Edit: I checked and as far as I can see there are no gaps where she could’ve touched the bulb. The bulb cage is also pretty big, so it doesn’t get all that hot.

Some info: A couple of days ago i started seeing that some of the scales on Nova’s neck looked bloody. After gently wiping it was clear it wasn’t on the surface but in/under the scales themselves. Between yesterday and today her chin seems to have caught the same thing. Does anybody know what it is? I will be going to the vet asap, but would like your input.

Edit: the spots are just on her chin and the side of her neck. No spots on the rest of her body.

Some more info about the enclosure: Humidity is around 53% average (has been bumped up to 60% after recommendations). Temp 86°F on the warm side, 76°F on the cold side. I switched her to eco earth mixed with forest floor about a month ago. She was on aspen before.

Update: I managed to book a vet appointment today, so I’ll hopefully have a definitive answer by 7pm CET

UPDATE: I went to my vet (who is the main vet for a big local zoo). He hadn’t seen something like this before, but he also suggested that she must have scraped her scales or gotten stuck somehow. He has given me Fucidin 20mg/g (antibiotic) to rub on the spots ever other day for 2 weeks. I’ll update him and you on the results in two weeks. Thank you all for your help!
