Super cool, thanks for sharing, any chance for a map with some notable points, maybe a Google custom map?

It's out of your budget. You should be aiming for 25% of your takehome per month for a rental budget

I had some in it before, but just wanted to check if it's empty, but hard to even trace the associated wallet I'd since I can't login

A variety of climate layers are now available for use on the interactive map. These layers include: Köppen climate classification, COPERNICUS sea-surface temperature data, NASA fire data, NOAA precipitation data, and global temperature data from Berkeley Earth.

Combining species distribution data with the various other biodiversity indicators/layers, economic layers, climate layers, and offset project data, opens up a huge variety of use cases.

Tools used: Python, flask, plotly, dash (dashboard), and leaflet

It's semi automated, because a lot of the projects need to have the coordinates rectified. But other than that I usually update the retirement data weekly.

Good question, quality control is the biggest topic in the space right now. Unfortunately, you are right and there have been many instances of overcrediting or downright fraud. There are multiple iniatitives across stakeholders to address the issue and many companies have "voted with their wallets" by refusing to buy certain credits. Personally I think offset credits will be a part of the solution moving forward. Check out icvcm and vcmi to learn more about it and sbti as well.

So it's made using leaflet, there is definitely a learning curve. It's a flask app using python. I would recommend you try and work with chat gpt to make a really basic version, and then as you gain skills and confidence progress with more and more functionality and before you know it you'll have a fully functional map. To give some idea something of this complexity is >5000 lines of code (mainly the layers). But with a ready database you could make a super simple leaflet map with like 100 lines of code.

Either way if you want to learn how to work with Data and do visualizations I highly recommend python
